Plug-in Charging Does not Start: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HEALTH CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Health Check.
    4. Check DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No DTCs are output. A
      DTCs are output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CHARGE CANCEL HISTORY) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Plug-in Control / Utility / Charge Cancel History.
    4. Check for Charge Cancel History.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      "Charge Cancel History" is not output. A
      "Charge Cancel History" is output. B

      HINT: 

      "Charge Cancel History" is stored only during plug-in charging. If "Charge Cancel History" was stored, it can be determined that plug-in charging was being performed.

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   4 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CAUSE ANALYSIS 
    1. Perform cause analysis in the order of "Vehicle", "Environment" and "User" categories as specified in the following tables.
      VEHICLE

      Possible Cause Action to be Taken
      Discharged auxiliary battery Turn the power switch on (READY) and leave the vehicle for 15 min (to charge the auxiliary battery)
      Explain to the customer that the auxiliary battery will discharge when the vehicle is left without being started for a long time.
      ENVIRONMENT

      Possible Cause Action to be Taken
      Charging was cancelled due to a power outage. Interview customer and provide instruction on usage.
      Improper use of charging station Check how the charging station was used.
      USER

      Possible Cause Action to be Taken
      Charging timer function failure (Time displayed on the vehicle is not correct.) Adjust the time display on the vehicle correctly.
      Charging timer function failure (AC voltage is not supplied) Explain to the customer that the charging cable should be connected either before or after setting the charging timer function.
      Charging timer function failure (The power switch was on (IG) when the charging timer function attempted to start.) Explain to the customer that the charging timer function does not start while the power switch is on (IG). (The charging timer function will start right after the power switch is turned off.)
      The charging cable is not connected securely. Interview customer and provide instruction on usage.
    2. Take appropriate action in accordance with the result of the cause analysis.
