Door Courtesy Switch Circuit: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.
    5. Read the display on the Techstream.

  2. INSPECT FRONT DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (LH OR RH) 
    1. Remove the front door courtesy light switch assembly. Refer to COMPONENTS .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 - Switch body Pushed 10 kΩ or higher
      1 - Switch body Not pushed Below 1 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without harness connected

      *2 Switch Body

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY - SWITCH) 
    1. for Front LH
      1. Disconnect the 2D instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
      2. Disconnect the R6 front door courtesy light switch assembly LH connector.
      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        2D-35 - R6-1 Always Below 1 Ω
        2D-35 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    2. for Front RH
      1. Disconnect the 2D instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
      2. Disconnect the S5 front door courtesy light switch assembly RH connector.
      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        2D-36 - S5-1 Always Below 1 Ω
        2D-36 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. for Front LH

      1. Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly.
      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        2D-35 - A-2 (FLCY) Always Below 1 Ω
        2D-35 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

        *1 Component without harness connected

    2. for Front RH

      1. Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly.
      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        2D-36 - A-4 (FRCY) Always Below 1 Ω
        2D-36 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
        TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

        *1 Component without harness connected
        (Instrument Panel Junction Block Assembly)

    NG → REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 

    OK → See step   13 

  5. INSPECT REAR DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (LH OR RH) 
    1. Remove the rear door courtesy light switch assembly. Refer to COMPONENTS .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 - Switch body Pushed 10 kΩ or higher
      1 - Switch body Not pushed Below 1 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (Rear Door Courtesy Light Switch Assembly)
      *2 Switch Body

    NG → See step   10 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - REAR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH) 
    1. for Rear LH
      1. Disconnect the L7 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
      2. Disconnect the R13 rear door courtesy light switch assembly LH connector.
      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        L7-6 (LRCY) - R13-1 Always Below 1 Ω
        L7-6 (LRCY) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    2. for Rear RH
      1. Disconnect the L7 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
      2. Disconnect the S10 rear door courtesy light switch assembly RH connector.
      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        L7-6 (LRCY) - S10-1 Always Below 1 Ω
        L7-6 (LRCY) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   13 

  7. INSPECT BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the back door lock assembly. Refer to COMPONENTS .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 (E) - 2 (+) Locked 10 kΩ or higher
      1 (E) - 2 (+) Unlocked Below 1 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (Back Door Lock Assembly)
      *2 Lock
      *3 Unlock

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR LOCK - MAIN BODY ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the L7 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
    2. Disconnect the R18 back door lock assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L7-19 (BCTY) - R18-2 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      L7-19 (BCTY) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R18-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   13 

  9. REPLACE FRONT DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  10. REPLACE REAR DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  11. REPLACE BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  12. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  
  13. REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  COMPONENTS
