Fail-Safe Chart

  1. Constant speed control mode and vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode: 

    If any of the following auto cancel conditions are detected while the dynamic radar cruise control system is controlling vehicle speed, the system clears the stored vehicle speed and cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system.

    (Constance speed control mode)

    (Vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode)
    Vehicle Condition Auto Cancel Condition Fail-safe Deactivation Condition
    • Cruise control indicator light blinks
    • A warning message is displayed
    • "Pong" warning sound is heard
    • Open or short in stop light switch circuit
    • Problem with vehicle speed signal
    Cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control switch (ON-OFF button).
  2. Vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode:

    If any of the following auto cancel conditions are detected while the dynamic radar cruise control system is controlling vehicle speed, the system clears the stored vehicle speed and cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system.

    • Vehicle-to-vehicle cruise control indicator light blinks
    • A warning message is displayed
    • "Pong" warning sound is heard
    • Problem with millimeter wave radar sensor
    • Beam axis of millimeter wave radar sensor deviates
    • Communication stop between skid control ECU and driving support ECU assembly
    Power switch is turned off and back on (READY) again.
  3. Vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode:

    If any of the following auto cancel conditions are detected while the dynamic radar cruise control system is controlling vehicle speed, the system maintains the stored vehicle speed in memory and cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system.

    • Vehicle-to-vehicle cruise control indicator light blinks
    • A warning message is displayed

    • There is dirt on millimeter wave radar sensor
    • Wipers operating on HI setting
    • Millimeter wave radar sensor sensitivity reduced because of bad weather such as rain, fog, snow, or sandstorm
    Cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control switch (ON-OFF button).
  4. Constant speed control mode: 

    If the following auto cancel condition is detected while the dynamic radar cruise control system is controlling vehicle speed, the system clears the stored vehicle speed and cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system.

    Cruise control indicator light on Vehicle speed is lower than stored speed by approximately 16 km/h (10 mph) or more Cruise control switch is pushed -/SET
  5. Constant speed control mode and vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode: 

    If the following auto cancel condition is detected while the dynamic radar cruise control system is controlling vehicle speed, the system maintains the stored vehicle speed in memory and cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system.

    Cruise control indicator light on VSC system operates while driving with cruise control system controlling vehicle speed Push the cruise control switch to +/RES
  6. Constant speed control mode and vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode: 

    If any of the following auto cancel conditions are detected while the dynamic radar cruise control system is controlling vehicle speed, the system clears the stored vehicle speed and cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system.

    Cruise control indicator light on
    • Malfunction in the hybrid vehicle control system
    • Problem with vehicle speed signal and yaw rate sensor signal
    Cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control switch (ON-OFF button).
  7. Constant speed control mode and vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode: 

    If any of the following auto cancel conditions are detected while the dynamic radar cruise control system is controlling vehicle speed, the system clears the stored vehicle speed and cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system.
