Data List / Active Test

  1. DATA LIST 

    HINT: 

    Using the Techstream to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.

    NOTE:

    In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not.

    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Power Source Control / Trouble Codes.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      POWER SOURCE CONTROL

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Stop Light Switch1 State of brake pedal/OFF or ON OFF: Brake pedal released
      ON: Brake pedal depressed
      • Use this item to determine whether the stop light switch is malfunctioning.
      • The hybrid control system cannot be started when this item is "OFF".
      • When this item is malfunctioning, the hybrid control system can be started by pressing and holding the power switch for a certain period of time.
      Start Switch1 Condition of power switch contact 1/OFF or ON OFF: Power switch not pressed
      ON: Power switch pressed
      • If the power switch is pressed for a short time, the display may not change.
      • Use this item to determine whether the power switch input signal is malfunctioning.
      Start Switch2 Condition of power switch contact 2/OFF or ON OFF: Power switch not pressed
      ON: Power switch pressed
      • This is the backup for power switch 1.
      • Behaves the same way as power switch 1.
      Latch Circuit Condition of IG related backup circuit (IG hold circuit)/OFF or ON OFF: Power switch off
      ON: Power switch on (IG)      		 This item behaves in almost the same way as the IG1 and IG2 relays.
      IG1 Relay Monitor (Outside) IG1 relay activation/OFF or ON OFF: IG1 relay off
      ON: IG1 relay on      		 As this is the IG1 relay ON signal, this item displays "OFF" when the power switch is on (ACC).
      IG1 Relay Monitor (Inside) IG1 relay activation/OFF or ON OFF: IG1 relay off
      ON: IG1 relay on      		 As this is the IG1 relay ON signal, this item displays "OFF" when the power switch is on (ACC).
      IG2 Relay Monitor (Outside) IG2 relay activation/OFF or ON OFF: IG2 relay off
      ON: IG2 relay on      		 As this is the IG2 relay ON signal, this item displays "OFF" when the power switch is on (ACC).
      IG2 Relay Monitor (Inside) IG2 relay activation/OFF or ON OFF: IG2 relay off
      ON: IG2 relay on      		 As this is the IG2 relay ON signal, this item displays "OFF" when the power switch is on (ACC).
      Starter Request Signal Condition of hybrid control system start command signal/OFF or ON OFF: Power switch released after approximately 1 second elapses
      ON: Power switch pressed and held while carrying key with park (P) selected and brake pedal depressed
      • This item displays "ON" when starting the hybrid control system.
      • The hybrid control system cannot be started when this item is "OFF".
      ACC Relay Monitor ACC relay activation/OFF or ON OFF: ACC relay off
      ON: ACC relay on      		 This item displays "OFF" when starting the hybrid control system.
      Ready Signal Status of the ready signal/OFF, ON or Unknown OFF: Hybrid control system off
      ON: Hybrid control system on (READY ON)
      Unknown: Other      		 -
      Vehicle Speed Signal Vehicle moving or stationary/Stop or Run Stop: Vehicle stopped
      Run: Vehicle moving at 5 km/h (3 mph) or more      		 -
      Shift P Signal Pulse Status of the shift P signal pulse/Normal1, Normal2, Normal3, Unknown, Error1, Error2 or Error3 Normal1: Signal normal and park (P) state cannot be determined
      Normal2: Signal normal and park (P) selected
      Normal3: Signal normal and R, N, D or B selected
      Unknown: Other
      Error1: Signal abnormal and park (P) state cannot be determined
      Error2: Signal abnormal and park (P) selected
      Error3: Signal abnormal and R, N, D or B selected      		 Use this item to determine if the P position signal is malfunctioning.
      Power Supply Condition State of power supply/All OFF, ACC ON, IG1 ON, IG2 ON, ST ON All OFF: Power switch off (power supply off)
      ACC ON: Power switch on (ACC) (ACC relay on)
      IG1 ON: Power switch on (IG) (IG1 relay on)
      IG2 ON: Power switch on (IG) (IG2 relay on)
      ST ON: Starting hybrid control system      		 Since "IG1 ON" and "IG2 ON" turn "on" at approximately the same time, "IG1 ON" may not be displayed ("IG1 ON" turns on for a very short time).
      Powertrain Type Vehicle identification/Cnv-MT, Cnv-AT, Cnv-MMT, HV-AT, S&S-MT, S&S-AT, S&S-MMT HV-AT: Hybrid A/T (A/T vehicle equipped with hybrid system) -
      IG1 Circuit IG1 relay coil circuit malfunction/OK or NG OK: Circuit normal
      NG: Circuit malfunctioning
      • Use this item when determining whether the IG1 relay is malfunctioning.
      • The hybrid control system cannot be started when this item displays "NG".
      IG2 Circuit IG2 relay coil circuit malfunction/OK or NG OK: Circuit normal
      NG: Circuit malfunctioning
      • Use this item when determining whether the IG2 relay is malfunctioning.
      • The hybrid control system cannot be started when this item displays "NG".
      Starter SW Sig Mismatch Power switch signal 1 and 2 mismatch/No or Yes No: Switch normal
      Yes: Switch malfunctioning (power switch signal 1 and 2 do not match)      		 The hybrid control system can be started, even if this item displays "Yes".
      Park Signal Mismatch Park (P) signal malfunction/No or Yes No: Signal normal
      Yes: Signal malfunction (CAN communication and direct line signal do not match)      		 The hybrid control system can be started, even if this item displays "Yes".
      Key Certif Wait T-Out Key verification malfunction/No or Yes No: Verification normal
      Yes: Verification error (detected when ID code from key and ID stored in certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) do not match)      		 The hybrid control system can be started, even if this item displays "Yes".
      Number of Diagnosis Code Number of DTCs/0 to 255 Number of DTCs will be displayed -
    6. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Key / Data List.
    7. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      ON: Power switch on (IG)      		 This item displays "OFF" when the power switch is on (ACC).

      Immobiliser Engine immobiliser system status determined by certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) / Set or Unset Set: Engine immobiliser set (hybrid control system start prohibited) (power switch off or driver door closed and open with power switch on (ACC))
      Unset: Engine immobiliser unset (hybrid control system start permitted) (power switch on (IG))      		 When the engine immobiliser system does not change to the "unset" state, this item can be used to determine if the cause is the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) or ID code box (immobiliser code ECU).
      Steering Lock Sleep Cond Transmission control ECU assembly sleep condition/Yes or No - -
      Steering Lock Start Cond Transmission state of transmission control ECU assembly wake up signal/No or Yes No: Wake up signal not transmitted

      Engine Start Condition State of hybrid control system start permission signal determined by transmission control ECU assembly and sent to certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly)/NG or OK NG: Hybrid control system start prohibited
      OK: Hybrid control system start permitted
      • When this item displays "OK", the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) has received an unlock confirmation signal from the transmission control ECU assembly and has permitted hybrid control system start.
      • The hybrid control system cannot be started when this item displays "NG".
      Engine Start Request Reception state of hybrid control system start permission signal determined by ID code box and sent to certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly)/OK or NG OK: Receiving signal
      NG: Not receiving signal
      • When this item displays "OK", the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) has received engine start request signal from the ID code box and has permitted hybrid control system start.
      • The hybrid control system cannot be started when this item displays "NG".
      S Code Check Verification result between certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) and ID code box/OK or NG OK: Verification result normal
      NG: Verification result abnormal      		 When a malfunction is present:
      • The ID code for the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) or ID code box is not registered or the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) or ID code box is malfunctioning.
      • The gearshift control cannot be locked.
      • The gearshift control cannot be unlocked (the hybrid control system cannot be started).
      L Code Check Verification result between ID code box and transmission control ECU assembly/OK or NG OK: Verification result normal
      NG: Verification result abnormal      		 When a malfunction is present:
      • The ID code for the ID code box or transmission control ECU assembly is not registered or the ID code box or transmission control ECU assembly is malfunctioning.
      • The gearshift control cannot be locked.
      • The gearshift control cannot be unlocked (the hybrid control system cannot be started).
      Unlock Request Receive Reception state of gearshift control unlock command signal sent to ID code box determined by certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly)/OK or NG
      HINT: 
      The reception state is maintained for 10 seconds.      		 OK: Within 10 seconds of turning power switch on (IG) or on (ACC) or starting hybrid control system
      NG: Except above      		 If the unlock signal has not been received, the hybrid control system cannot be started.
      If this item does not change to "OK" even though the gearshift control unlock conditions are met, the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) or transmission control ECU assembly may be malfunctioning.
      Lock Request Receive Reception state of gearshift control lock command signal sent to ID code box determined by certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly)/OK or NG OK: Within 10 seconds of opening any door with power switch off and park (P) selected
      NG: Except above      		 If this item does not change to "OK" even though the gearshift control lock conditions are met, the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) may be malfunctioning.
      S Code Check (Past) Verification result between certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) and ID code box (Past)/OK or NG (Past) OK: Verification result normal

      Set: Gearshift control locked      		 If this item displays "Unset", the gearshift control does not lock.
      Steering Unlock State of whether transmission control ECU assembly has determined gearshift control is unlocked/Unset or Set Unset: Gearshift control locked
      Set: Gearshift control unlocked      		 If this item displays "Unset", the gearshift control does not unlock (hybrid control system cannot be started).
      COMBINATION METER

  2. ACTIVE TEST 

    HINT: 

    Using the Techstream to perform Active Tests allows relay, VSVs, actuators and other items to be operated without removing any parts. This non-intrusive functional inspection can be very useful because intermittent operation may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Performing Active Tests early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. Data List information can be displayed while performing Active Tests.

    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Power Source Control / Active Test.
    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.
