1AR-FE ENGINE CONTROL: ECM: REMOVAL

NOTICE:
Perform the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) registration when replacing the ECM Programming and Relearning.

1. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY

Removal

2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET ASSEMBLY Removal

3. REMOVE BATTERY Removal

4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY Removal

5. REMOVE ECM

(a) Disengage the wire harness clamp.





(b) While slightly pushing portion A of the lever of the ECM connector, turn the lever until it makes a click sound.





(c) Disconnect the 2 ECM connectors.

NOTICE:
After disconnecting the connectors, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not contact the connecting part of the connectors.

(d) Remove the 3 bolts and the ECM with the brackets.





6. REMOVE ECM BRACKET

(a) Remove the 2 screws and the ECM bracket.





7. REMOVE NO. 2 ECM BRACKET

(a) Remove the 3 screws and the No. 2 ECM bracket.
