How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

HINT: 

• Use these procedures to troubleshoot the occupant classification system.

1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 

   NEXT: Go to next step 

2. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS 
   1. Confirm customer problem symptoms. Refer to GENERAL INFORMATION .

      NEXT: Go to next step 

3. PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CHECK 
   1. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .

      NEXT: Go to next step 

4. CHECK FOR DTC (Present and Past DTC)* 
   1. Check for DTCs and note any codes that are output. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
   2. Clear for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
   3. Recheck for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR . Based on the DTCs output above, try to force output of the same CAN communication system DTC or occupant classification system DTC by simulating the symptoms indicated by the DTC.

5. DTC CHART 
   1. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .

6. CIRCUIT INSPECTION* 

   NEXT: Go to next step 

7. REPAIR 

   NEXT: Go to next step 

8. CLEAR DTC (Present and Past DTCs)* 
   1. Clear DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      NEXT: Go to next step 

9. DTC CHECK (Present DTCs)* 
   1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

10. SYMPTOM SIMULATION 
    1. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator condition. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
