How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

HINT: 

*: Use the Techstream.

  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  2. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS 
    1. Confirm problem symptoms. Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING .

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE* 
    1. Measure the voltage of the battery.

      Standard voltage

      11 to 14 V

      If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding to the next step.

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK DTC* 
    1. Check and record DTCs.

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  5. CLEAR DTC* 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  6. PROBLEM SYMPTOM CONFIRMATION 
    RESULT

    Result Proceed to
    Symptom does not occur A
    Symptom occurs B

    B → Go to step 8 

    A: Go to next step 

  7. SYMPTOM SIMULATION 
    1. Perform symptom simulation. Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING .

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM* 
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      CAN communication system DTC is not output A
      CAN communication system DTC is output B

      HINT: 

      • If any CAN communication system DTCs are output, perform troubleshooting for the CAN communication system first. Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING .
      • If communication with the power steering ECU cannot be established through the Techstream, inspect terminals CANH and CANL of the DLC3 and power steering ECU, and the IG circuit of the power steering ECU.

      B → PROCEED TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING) 

      A: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK FOR DTC* 
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      HINT: 

      Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart when any DTCs are output. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .

      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

      B → Go to step 11 

      A: Go to next step 

  10. PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
    1. Refer to Problem Symptoms Table. Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE .

  11. CIRCUIT INSPECTION
