DTC P0500: Vehicle Speed Sensor "A": Procedure
- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VEHICLE SPEED)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Vehicle Speed.
- Drive the vehicle.
- Read the value displayed on the Techstream.
OK
Vehicle speeds displayed on the Techstream and speedometer display are equal.

- CHECK COMBINATION METER SYSTEM
- Inspect the circuits that send vehicle speed signals to this system in the meter system. Refer to Speed Signal Circuit .
- During inspection for the meter section, if there is an instruction that indicates to go back to inspections for each system, proceed to the next step.

- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - COMBINATION METER)
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Disconnect the combination meter connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition E55-36 (+S) - A37-38 (SPD) Always Below 1 Ω - Reconnect the ECM connector.
- Reconnect the combination meter connector.

OK → See step 6
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK)
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Disconnect the driver side junction block connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A37-38 (SPD) - 2D-8 Always Below 1 Ω - Reconnect the driver side junction block connector.
- Reconnect the ECM connector.
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (ECM - DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK)
OK → REPAIR OR REPLACE DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK
- CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
- REPLACE ECM. Refer to REMOVAL
