Headlight Signal Circuit: Procedure

  1. INSPECT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check if the headlights come on when the light control switch is turned to the HEAD position.

      OK

      The headlights come on.

    NG → See step   5 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT SIGNAL) 
    1. Disconnect the connector from the A/C amplifier.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E9-23 (HLS) - Body ground Light control switch: OFF 11 to 14 V
      E9-23 (HLS) - Body ground Light control switch: HEAD Below 1 V

    NG → See step   3 

    OK → See step   4 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (A/C AMPLIFIER - DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT RELAY ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the connector from the daytime running light relay assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E9-23 (HLS) - E42-4 (H-LP) Always Below 1 Ω
      E9-23 (HLS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   6 

  4. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  5. GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  6. REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER. Refer to  REMOVAL
