Exhaust Pipe And Catalytic Converter (For 2WD): Installation: Installation

  1. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression spring.

      Minimum 41.5 mm (1.63 in.)

      If the free length is less than the minimum, replace the compression spring.

    2. Remove the remains on exhaust manifold converter with wire brush.
    3. Fully insert a new gasket to the exhaust manifold.

      NOTE:
      • Be sure to install the gasket in the correct direction.
      • Do not reuse the gasket.
      • Do not damage the gasket.
    4. Install the front exhaust pipe assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 compression springs.

      Torque: 43 N*m (440 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf) 

  2. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 2
  3. INSTALL CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install a new gasket to the front exhaust pipe assembly.

    2. Connect the center exhaust pipe assembly to the 2 exhaust pipe supports. (for Torsion beam type suspension)
    3. Connect the center exhaust pipe assembly to the 3 exhaust pipe supports. (for Double wishbone type suspension)
    4. Install the center exhaust pipe assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 43 N*m (440 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf) 

  4. INSTALL TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the exhaust tail pipe baffle sub-assembly. (with baffle model)
    2. Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression spring.

      Minimum 38.5 mm (1.52 in.)

      If the free length is less than the minimum, replace the compression spring.

    3. Fully insert a new gasket to the center exhaust pipe assembly.

      NOTE:
      • Be sure to install the gasket in the correct direction.
      • Do not reuse the gasket.
      • Do not damage the gasket.
    4. Connect the tail exhaust pipe assembly to the 3 exhaust pipe supports. (for Torsion beam type suspension)
    5. Connect the tail exhaust pipe assembly to the 2 exhaust pipe supports. (for Double wishbone type suspension)
    6. Install the tail exhaust pipe assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 compression springs.

      Torque: 43 N*m (440 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf) 

  5. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
