TPMS Reminder Reset - Procedure 19: Initialization

NOTE: The system will need to be initialized when tires are rotated, replaced with tires of different pressures, or tire pressure sensor and/or tire pressure monitor ECU are replaced.
  1. Set tires to the specified (cold) pressures as indicated on the tire and loading information label.
  2. Turn the engine switch ON.
  3. Select SETTINGS DISPLAY (gear icon) on the multi-information display using the meter control switches on the steering wheel. See Fig 1.
  4. Select VEHICLE INFORMATION and then press and hold OK.
  5. Select TPWS and then press OK.
  6. Select SET PRESSURE then press and hold OK until the tire pressure warning light blinks 3 times.
NOTE: A message will then be displayed on the multi-information display. "---" will be displayed on the multi-information display for the inflation pressure of each tire while initialization is being performed.
  7. Drive straight (with occasional left and right turns) at approximately 25 mph (40 km/h) or more for approximately 10 to 30 minutes.
  8. Initialization is complete when the position of each tire is determined and the inflation pressure of each tire is displayed on the multi-information display.
NOTE: Initialization may take longer than approximately 1 hour in certain situations, such as when the vehicle is stopped for a long time at traffic lights, etc.
