Throttle Body: Installation: Installation

  1. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY 
    1. for Type A:
      1. Install a new gasket onto the intake manifold.

        HINT: 

        Orient the protrusion of the gasket as shown in the illustration.

      2. Install the throttle body assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.

        Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) 

      3. Connect the 2 water by-pass hoses and the connector.

    2. for Type B:
      1. Install a new gasket onto the intake manifold.

        HINT: 

        Orient the protrusion of the gasket as shown in the illustration.

      2. Install the throttle body assembly with the 4 bolts.

        Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) 

      3. Connect the 2 water by-pass hoses and connector.

  2. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH HOSE 
    1. Engage the 2 clamps to install the air cleaner cap sub-assembly with hose.

    2. Connect the air cleaner cap sub-assembly with hose and tighten the hose clamp.

      Torque: 2.0 N*m (20 kgf*cm, 18 in.*lbf) 

    3. Connect the ventilation hose to the cylinder head cover sub-assembly.

    4. Connect the 2 wire harness clamps and connector.

  3. ADD ENGINE COOLANT  . Refer to REPLACEMENT - Step 2
  4. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK  . Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION - Step 1
  5. INSTALL NO. 2 CYLINDER HEAD COVER  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 85
  6. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    NOTE:

    Perform the following procedure after replacing the ECM, throttle body assembly or any throttle body components. The following procedure should also be performed if the throttle body assembly is cleaned.

    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Wait at least 60 seconds and reconnect the terminal.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON without operating the accelerator pedal assembly.
      NOTE:

      If the accelerator pedal assembly is operated, perform the above steps again.

    3. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3 and clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    4. Start the engine and check that the MIL is not illuminated and that the idle speed is within the specified range when the A/C is switched off and the engine is warmed up.

      Standard

      Condition Engine Idle Speed
      A/C switched off 600 to 700 rpm
      NOTE:
      • Be sure to perform this step with all accessories off.
      • Make sure that the shift lever is in N or P.
    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain/ Engine and ECT/ Data List/ Throttle Pos. Sensor Output. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and check that the value is 60% or more.
    6. Perform a road test and confirm that there are no abnormalities.
