Unable to Lock Steering Wheel: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC (CERTIFICATION ECU (ECU AGGREGATION BOX ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
    3. Read the DTCs of the certification ECU (ECU aggregation box assembly) by following the prompts displayed on the Techstream screen.

      OK

      No DTCs related to the certification ECU (ECU aggregation box assembly) are output.

    NG → GO TO RELEVANT DTC 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK FOR DTC (MAIN BODY ECU) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
    3. Read the DTCs of the main body ECU by following the prompts displayed on the Techstream screen.

      OK

      No DTCs related to the main body ECU are output.

    NG → GO TO RELEVANT DTC 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LOCK/UNLOCK RECEIVE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
    3. Within 10 seconds after the EV system is started, read the Data List menu of the certification ECU (ECU aggregation box assembly), and check the steering lock command reception record.

    NG → See step   5 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK STEERING LOCK ECU (STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY)

    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    2. Turn the power switch off.
    3. With park (P) selected, immediately after opening the driver door, inspect the voltage between terminals 3 (IGE) and 2 (SGND) of the steering lock ECU.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Immediately after opening door, measurement is below 1 V. A
      Measurement is 11 to 14 V, and measurement never becomes below 1 V. B

    B → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  5. CHECK STEERING LOCK ECU (STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) FUNCTION 
    1. Open the front passenger side door.
    2. Lock the doors using the wireless remote door lock key.
    3. Check that no doors are locked and the steering lock does not operate.

      OK

      No doors are locked and steering lock is not locked.

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (S CODE CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
    3. Check the Data List and read the value displayed on the Techstream screen.

  7. CHECK OPERATION OF CERTIFICATION ECU (ECU AGGREGATION BOX ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Replace the certification ECU (ECU aggregation box assembly) with a new one. Refer to REMOVAL .
      NOTE:

      When replacing the certification ECU (ECU aggregation box assembly), registration must be performed according to the "Registration" procedures. Refer to REGISTRATION .

    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
    4. Check the Data List and read the value displayed on the Techstream screen.

  8. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (L CODE CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
    3. Check the Data List and read the value displayed on the Techstream screen.

  9. CHECK OPERATION OF STEERING LOCK ECU (STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Replace the steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator assembly) with a new one. Refer to DISASSEMBLY .
      NOTE:

      When replacing the steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator assembly), registration must be performed according to the "Registration" procedures. Refer to REGISTRATION .

    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
    4. Check the Data List and read the value displayed on the Techstream screen.

  10. CHECK OPERATION OF STEERING LOCK ECU (STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Replace the steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator assembly) with a new one. Refer to DISASSEMBLY .
      NOTE:

      When replacing the steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator assembly), registration must be performed according to the "Registration" procedures. Refer to REGISTRATION .

    2. With park (P) selected and the brake pedal depressed, turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Check whether the steering lock can be released by turning the steering wheel, and check that the EV system starts.

      OK

      Steering lock is released and EV system starts.

    NG → See step   15 

    OK → END 

  11. GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM (DOOR COURTESY SWITCH CIRCUIT). Refer to  Door Courtesy Switch Circuit 
  12. REPLACE ID CODE BOX (IMMOBILISER CODE ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  13. REPLACE ID CODE BOX (IMMOBILISER CODE ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  14. REPLACE STEERING LOCK ECU (STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY). Refer to  DISASSEMBLY 
  15. REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (ECU AGGREGATION BOX ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL
