System Description

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
    1. The power window control system controls the power window operation using the power window regulator motors. The main controls of this system are the power window regulator master switch assembly, which is mounted on the driver door, and the power window regulator switches, which are mounted on the front passenger door and rear doors. Operating a window switch results in electrical power being transmitted to the corresponding power window regulator motor.
  2. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

The power window control system consists of the following components:

    Component Outline
Power window regulator master switch assembly
    • Controls power window operation for all windows.
    • When window lock switch is set to lock position, window operation will only be possible with power window regulator master switch assembly.
    Power window regulator switch assembly
    • Located on front passenger side door and rear doors.
    • Each regulator switch controls window operations for its respective window.
    Power window regulator motor assembly
    • Receives switch signals and changes signals into motor activation to change window position.
    • Front power window regulator motor assembly LH uses pulse sensors to detect window position.
  3. SYSTEM FUNCTION

The power window control system has the following functions:

    Function Outline
    Manual up/down function
    • Driver side power window:

Function that raises window while power window regulator master switch assembly is pulled halfway up, and lowers window while pushed halfway down (window stops as soon as switch is released).

    • Other power windows:

Function that raises window while power window regulator switch assembly is pulled up, and lowers window while pushed down (window stops as soon as switch is released).

Auto up/down function (for Driver Side) Function that enables window of driver side door to be fully opened or fully closed by one full push downward or one full pull upward on power window regulator master switch assembly, respectively.
    Window lock function
    • Function that disables front passenger side power window and rear power window operations when window lock switch of power window regulator master switch assembly is pressed.
    • Front passenger side power window and rear power windows can be operated when window lock switch is pressed again.
Jam protection function (for Driver Side) Function that automatically stops driver side power window and moves it downward if object is jammed in driver side power window during auto up operation.
Remote control function Function that allows the power window regulator master switch assembly to control manual up/down operation of front passenger side power window and rear power windows.
    Key-off operation function
    • Function that makes it possible to operate all power windows for approximately 45 seconds after the power switch is turned off when the driver door or front passenger door has not been opened.
    • When 45 seconds have elapsed, or the driver door or front passenger door is opened after the power switch is turned off, the key-off operation function will be disabled.
HINT: If the driver door or front passenger door is opened during automatic window operation while the key-off operation function is on, the window will stop operating.
    Diagnosis (for Driver Side)
    • Function that allows power window regulator master switch assembly to detect malfunctions in power window system and make diagnoses.
    • Power window regulator master switch light (AUTO light) illuminates or starts blinking to inform driver.
    Fail-safe (for Driver Side)
    • Function that disables driver side power window auto up/down function if pulse sensors (Hall ICs) in power window regulator motor have a malfunction.
    • Manual operation is possible through power window regulator switches.
