Removal [08/2015 - 08/2016]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 

    Refer to PRECAUTION [04/2014 - 08/2017]

  2. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  3. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ]

  4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 

    See step  3

  5. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.

    2. Disengage the 5 claws and remove the lower steering column cover.

  6. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the upper steering column cover.

  7. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:

    w/ VSC: 

    • Do not replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the battery connected and the ignition switch ON.
    • Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly without the steering wheel assembly with the battery connected and the ignition switch ON.
    • Ensure that the steering wheel assembly is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.
    1. Disconnect each connector from the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly.
    2. Using pliers, expand the clamp.

    3. While holding the clamp expanded, raise the claw using a screwdriver to disengage it, and then remove the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly from the steering column assembly.
  8. REMOVE COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET 
    1. Turn back the floor carpet.
    2. Remove the 2 clips and column hole cover silencer sheet.

  9. SEPARATE NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Put matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and steering intermediate shaft assembly.

    2. Remove the bolt.
    3. Separate the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly from the steering intermediate shaft assembly.
  10. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2014 - 08/2016]

  11. REMOVE FUSE BOX OPENING COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  12. REMOVE NO. 1 SWITCH HOLE BASE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  13. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  14. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  15. REMOVE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  16. REMOVE STOP LIGHT SWITCH MOUNTING ADJUSTER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  17. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  18. REMOVE PUSH ROD PIN 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  19. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL SUPPORT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  20. REMOVE NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and slide the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.

      NOTE:

      Do not remove the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly from the steering column assembly.

    2. Put matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and the steering column assembly.
    3. Remove the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly from the steering column assembly.
  21. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the 2 connectors.

    2. Disengage the clamp.
    3. Disconnect each connector and disengage each wire harness clamp from the steering column assembly.
    4. Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and steering column assembly.
