Microphone Circuit between Microphone and Navigation Receiver Assembly [09/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - DCM [TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER]) 
    1. Disconnect the E119 navigation receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the E122 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E119-5 (MIN+) - E122-18 (MCO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E119-19 (MIN-) - E122-19 (MCO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      E119-5 (MIN+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E119-19 (MIN-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E119-18 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM [TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER] - MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY [TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY]) 
    1. Disconnect the E122 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the P5 map light assembly (telephone microphone assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E122-33 (MCVD) - P5-12 (ACC) Always Below 1 Ω
      E122-34 (MCI+) - P5-10 (MIC+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E122-35 (MCI-) - P5-9 (MIC-) Always Below 1 Ω
      E122-33 (MCVD) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E122-34 (MCI+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E122-35 (MCI-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E122-32 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the E122 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E119-18 (SGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      E119-19 (MIN-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E122-33 (MCVD) - Body ground Power switch on (ACC) 4 to 6 V
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E122-35 (MCI-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      E122-32 (SGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Turn the power switch on (ACC).

    2. Connect an oscilloscope to terminals 10 (MIC+) and 9 (MIC-) of the map light assembly (telephone microphone assembly) connector.
    3. Check the waveform of the telephone microphone assembly using the oscilloscope.

      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      A waveform synchronized with the voice input to the map light assembly (telephone microphone assembly) is output A
      A waveform synchronized with the voice input to the map light assembly (telephone microphone assembly) is not output B

  6. CHECK TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the telephone microphone assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [09/2013 - ] .
    2. Check if the same malfunction recurs.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Malfunction does not recur
      (returns to normal)
      A
      Malfunction recurs B

    A → END (TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY IS DEFECTIVE) 

  7. REPLACE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2013 - ] 
  8. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [09/2013 - ] 
  9. REPLACE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER). Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2013 - ] 
  10. REPLACE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2013 - ]
