How To Proceed With Troubleshooting [09/2013 - ]

HINT: 

  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  2. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS 
    1. Confirm the problem symptoms. Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [09/2013 - ] .

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT AUXILIARY BATTERY VOLTAGE 

    Standard voltage

    11 to 14 V

    If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the auxiliary battery before proceeding to the next step.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK DTC AND FREEZE FRAME DATA* 
    1. Check and record DTCs and freeze frame data.

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  5. CLEAR DTC AND FREEZE FRAME DATA* 
    1. Clear the DTCs and freeze frame data.

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  6. PROBLEM SYMPTOM CONFIRMATION 
    RESULT

    Result Proceed to
    Symptom does not occur. A
    Symptom occurs. B

    B → Go to step   8 

    A: Go to next step 

  7. SYMPTOM SIMULATION 
    1. Perform symptom simulation. Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [09/2013 - ] .

      NEXT: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM* 
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [09/2013 - ] .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      CAN communication system DTC is not output A
      CAN communication system DTC is output B

      HINT: 

      • If any CAN communication system DTCs are output, perform troubleshooting on the CAN communication system first.
      • If communication to the power steering ECU assembly cannot be established through the Techstream, inspect terminals CANH and CANL of the DLC3 and the power steering ECU assembly, and the IG circuit of the power steering ECU assembly.

      B → PROCEED TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING). Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [09/2013 - ] 

      A: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK FOR DTC* 
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2013 - ] .

      HINT: 

      Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart when any DTCs are output. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [09/2013 - ] .

      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

      B → Go to step   12 

      A: Go to next step 

  10. PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

      Fault is listed in Problem Symptoms Table B

  11. OVERALL ANALYSIS AND TROUBLESHOOTING*

    2. Refer to Data List / Active Test. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [09/2013 - ] .
