Removal [08/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  2. REMOVE BATTERY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  3. REMOVE NO. 2 CYLINDER HEAD COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

  6. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Front and Rear Catalyst) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ]

  7. REMOVE NO. 1 FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the 3 nuts and No. 1 front floor heat insulator.

  8. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - 08/2016] Refer to REMOVAL [08/2016 - ]

  9. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the clip and disconnect the transmission control select cable from the floor shift lever assembly.

    2. Disconnect the transmission control shift cable from the floor shift lever assembly.
    3. Using a screwdriver, pull out the stopper of the transmission control cable assembly.

      NOTE:

      Do not remove the stopper. If it is removed, reinstall it to its original position.

    4. Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the shift lever retainer.

      NOTE:

      Do not rotate the nut excessively as the internal spring may jump out and the transmission control cable will not be reusable.

    5. Remove the 2 clips (A) and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the manual transaxle assembly.

    6. Remove the 2 clips (B) and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the control cable bracket assembly.
    7. Remove the nut and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the transmission control cable support.

    8. Remove the 2 nuts and transmission control cable assembly from the vehicle exterior.

  10. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE SUPPORT 

    HINT: 

    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the transmission control cable support is necessary.

    1. Remove the nut and transmission control cable support from the vehicle body.
