Power Switch Illumination Circuit [08/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Key / Active Test.
    5. Check that the illumination operates.
      SMART KEY

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Power/Engine SW Light Power switch illumination ON/OFF All doors closed

      OK

      Power switch illumination comes on.

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → See step   5 

  2. INSPECT POWER SWITCH 
    1. Remove the power switch. Refer to COMPONENTS [08/2014 - ] .

    2. Connect a positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 11 and a negative (-) lead to terminal 5.
    3. Check that the illumination comes on.

      OK

      Power switch illumination comes on.

      (Power Switch)

    NG → See step   4 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SWITCH - CERTIFICATION ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the L62 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    2. Disconnect the L43 power switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L43-11 (SWIL) - L62-11 (SWIL) Always Below 1 Ω
      L43-11 (SWIL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L43-5 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   6 

  4. REPLACE POWER SWITCH. Refer to  COMPONENTS [08/2014 - ] 
  5. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [08/2014 - ]  
  6. REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY). Refer to  COMPONENTS [08/2014 - ]
