System Description [08/2014 - ]

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. GENERAL
    1. Deceleration sensors used for the airbag system are installed on various parts on the vehicle and calculate the deceleration rate of each part during a collision.
    2. Depending on the situation, the airbag ECU assembly sends a deployment signal to each airbag and pretensioner based on the information from each sensor.
  2. DEPLOYMENT CONDITION
    1. FRONTAL COLLISION

      1. Frontal collision signals are produced based on the information from the airbag ECU assembly and front airbag sensors.

        HINT:

In case of a frontal collision, the SRS ignition signal may be output after receiving an ON signal from the deceleration sensor built into the airbag ECU assembly even without a signal from the front airbag sensors.

      2. Frontal collision signals are used to deploy the airbags and pretensioners in the illustration.

        HINT:

The occupant classification system restricts the deployment of the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly and front seat outer belt assembly RH. Refer to FAIL-SAFE CHART [08/2014 - ] .

    2. SIDE COLLISION (Pattern 1)

      1. Side collision (Pattern 1) signals are produced based on the information from the airbag ECU assembly, side airbag sensor assembly and door side airbag sensor.
      2. Side collision (Pattern 1) signals are used to deploy the airbags and pretensioner in the illustration.
    3. SIDE COLLISION (Pattern 2)

      1. Side collision (Pattern 2) signals are produced based on the information from the airbag ECU assembly and side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly.
      2. Side collision (Pattern 2) signals are used to deploy the airbag in the illustration.
