Reassembly [08/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. HOW TO PREVENT STATIC ELECTRICITY 
    NOTE:
    • Be sure to touch a grounded metal surface with your bare hands to discharge any static electricity before removing or installing the transmission floor shift assembly.
    • Do not touch the electronic components of a circuit board.
    • Keep clothes away from electronic components.
    • Place electronic components removed from the transmission floor shift assembly on SST (anti-static mat).
    1. Wear SST (wrist band).

      • SST: 09890-47010 
    2. Connect the ground clip of SST (anti-static mat) securely to a ground point provided in the workshop or on a workbench (anchor bolt).
      • SST: 09890-47010 

      HINT: 

      If the ground clip cable is too short, use an extension cable.

    3. Connect the ground clip of the antistatic wrist strap securely to the specified point of the antistatic mat.
  2. INSTALL LOWER POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING 
    1. Engage the 5 claws to install the lower position indicator housing to the shift lock control unit assembly.

  3. INSTALL INDICATOR LIGHT WIRE SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Sport Sequential Shiftmatic) 
    1. Connect terminals 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, and 14 to the transmission control switch connector as shown in the illustration.

      Indicator Light Wire Sub-assembly Terminal
      NOTE:

      Reconnect each terminal to its original position.

    2. Lock the secondary lock.

    3. Engage the claw to install the clamp to the transmission control switch connector.

    4. Engage the clamp to install the indicator light wire sub-assembly to the shift lock control unit assembly.

    5. Engage the guide.
  4. INSTALL INDICATOR LIGHT WIRE SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Sport Sequential Shiftmatic) 
    1. Engage the claw to install the clamp to the indicator light wire sub-assembly.

    2. Engage the clamp to install the indicator light wire sub-assembly to the shift lock control unit assembly.

    3. Engage the guide.
  5. INSTALL SHIFT POSITION INDICATOR 
    1. When replacing the shift position indicator with a new one:
      1. Cut off the top portion of the antistatic bag while retaining enough of the bag to cover a hand.

      2. While holding the sides of the shift position indicator through the antistatic bag, turn the bag inside out.

      3. Engage the 2 guides to install the shift position indicator to the lower position indicator housing.
        NOTE:
        • While holding the sides of the shift position indicator through the antistatic bag, install it to the lower position indicator housing.
        • Do not damage the shift position indicator.

    2. When reusing the shift position indicator:
      1. Engage the 2 guides to install the shift position indicator to the lower position indicator housing.
        NOTE:
        • While holding the sides of the shift position indicator, install it to the lower position indicator housing.
        • Do not damage the shift position indicator.

    3. Connect the indicator light wire sub-assembly connector.

  6. INSTALL POSITION INDICATOR LIGHT GUIDE 
    1. Engage the 5 claws to install the position indicator light guide to the floor shift position indicator housing sub-assembly.

      NOTE:

      Do not damage the position indicator light guide.

  7. INSTALL SHIFTING HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 3 claws to install the shifting hole cover sub-assembly to the floor shift position indicator housing sub-assembly.

  8. INSTALL FLOOR SHIFT POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 4 claws to install the floor shift position indicator housing sub-assembly to the lower position indicator housing.

      HINT: 

      After installation, check that each indicator light illuminates correctly at each shift position.
