How To Proceed With Troubleshooting [12/2015 - ]: Procedure

  2. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS 

    HINT: 

    • In troubleshooting, confirm that the problem symptoms have been accurately identified. Preconceptions should be discarded in order to make an accurate judgment. To clearly understand what the problem symptoms are, it is extremely important to ask the customer about the problem and the conditions at the time the malfunction occurred.
    • Gather as much information as possible for reference. Past problems that seem unrelated may also help in some cases.
    • The following 5 items are important points in the problem analysis:
      What Vehicle model, system name
      When Date, time, occurrence frequency
      Where Road conditions
      Under what conditions? Running conditions, driving conditions, weather conditions
      How did it happen? Problem symptoms

  3. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE 

    Standard voltage

    11 to 14 V

    If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding to the next step.

  4. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM* 
    1. Use the Techstream to check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally.

      Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [12/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [08/2016 - 11/2017] , or refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [11/2017 - 08/2018] , or refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [08/2018 - ]

  5. CHECK LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM* 
    1. Use the Techstream to check if the (LIN) is functioning normally.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2015 - ]

  6. CHECK FOR DTC* 
    1. Check for DTC and note any codes that are output.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2015 - ] 

    2. Clear the DTC.
    3. Recheck for DTC.

  7. INSPECT BASIC OPERATION 
    1. Check that the engine starts normally when the engine switch is pushed while the brake pedal is depressed and the shift lever is in P.
    2. Check that the power source mode can be changed by pushing the engine switch.

      HINT: 

      Without depressing the brake pedal, push the engine switch repeatedly. The power source mode should change from off to on (ACC), to on (IG) and back to off. With the brake pedal depressed, push the engine switch. The engine should start regardless of the original powersource mode.
