Reassembly [03/2017 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL IGNITION OR STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/o Smart Key System) 
    1. Install the ignition or starter switch assembly with the 2 screws to the upper steering column with switch bracket assembly.

  2. INSTALL IGNITION SWITCH LOCK CYLINDER ASSEMBLY (w/o Smart Key System) 
    1. Make sure that the ignition switch lock cylinder assembly is in ACC.

      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a LOCK
      *b ACC
    2. Install the ignition switch lock cylinder assembly to the upper steering column with switch bracket assembly.
    3. Make sure that the ignition switch lock cylinder assembly is securely installed.
  3. INSTALL KEY INTERLOCK SOLENOID (for Automatic Transmission without Smart key System) 
    1. Engage the clamp.

    2. Install the key interlock solenoid to the upper steering column with switch bracket assembly with the 2 screws.
  4. INSTALL UN-LOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/o Smart Key System) 
    1. Slide the un-lock warning switch assembly and engage the 2 claws to install the un-lock warning switch assembly to the upper steering column with switch bracket assembly as shown in the illustration.

  5. INSTALL TRANSPONDER KEY AMPLIFIER (w/o Smart Key System) 
    1. Align the transponder key amplifier with the upper steering column with switch bracket assembly. Tilt the transponder key amplifier slightly and slide it into position.

    2. Push the transponder key amplifier, and engage the 2 claws to install the transponder key amplifier to the upper steering column with switch bracket assembly.
  6. INSPECT STEERING LOCK OPERATION (w/o Smart Key System) 

    See step  2

  7. INSTALL UPPER STEERING COLUMN WITH SWITCH BRACKET ASSEMBLY (w/o Smart Key System) 
    1. Secure the steering column assembly in a vise.
      NOTE:

      Do not overtighten the vice, as the steering column assembly may become deformed.

    2. Temporarily install the upper steering column with switch bracket assembly to the steering column assembly with a new tapered-head bolt.

    3. Tighten the tapered-head bolt until the bolt head breaks off.
  8. INSTALL STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (w/ Smart Key System) 

    HINT: 

    When replacing the steering lock actuator assembly, perform key registration.

    Refer to REGISTRATION [03/2017 - 12/2017] , or refer to REGISTRATION [12/2017 - ]

    1. Secure the steering column assembly in a vise.

    2. Temporarily install the steering lock actuator assembly to the steering column assembly with a new tapered-head bolt.
    3. Tighten the tapered-head bolt until the bolt head breaks off.
