Removal [08/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - 08/2016] Refer to REMOVAL [08/2016 - ]

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  3. REMOVE NO. 2 CYLINDER HEAD COVER (for 2ZR-FE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  4. REMOVE NO. 2 CYLINDER HEAD COVER (for 2ZR-FAE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE (for 2ZR-FE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE (for 2ZR-FAE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2ZR-FE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

  8. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2ZR-FAE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13

  9. REMOVE BATTERY (for 2ZR-FE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  10. REMOVE BATTERY (for 2ZR-FAE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

  11. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER (for 2ZR-FE)

  12. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER (for 2ZR-FAE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  13. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR COVER LH (for 2ZR-FE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  14. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR COVER LH (for 2ZR-FAE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  15. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR UNDER REAR REINFORCEMENT (for 2ZR-FE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  16. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR UNDER REAR REINFORCEMENT (for 2ZR-FAE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  17. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Front and Rear Catalyst) (for 2ZR-FE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  18. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Front and Rear Catalyst) (for 2ZR-FAE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  19. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the 3 nuts and front No. 1 floor heat insulator from the vehicle body.

  20. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Move the shift lever to N.
    2. Separate the end of the transmission control cable assembly from the transmission floor shift assembly.

    3. Using a screwdriver, pull out the stopper of the transmission control cable assembly.

      *a Stopper
      NOTE:

      Do not remove the stopper. If it is removed, reinstall it to its original position.

    4. Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, separate the transmission control cable assembly from the transmission floor shift assembly.

      NOTE:

      Do not rotate the nut excessively as the interior spring may come off and the transmission control cable assembly will not be reusable.

    5. Remove the nut and separate the transmission control cable assembly from the control shaft lever.

    6. Remove the clip and separate the transmission control cable assembly from the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket.
    7. Remove the nut and separate the transmission control cable assembly from the transmission control cable support.

    8. Remove the 2 nuts and then remove the transmission control cable assembly from the vehicle exterior.
  21. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE SUPPORT 

    HINT: 

    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the transmission control cable support is necessary.

    1. Remove the nut and transmission control cable support from the vehicle body.
