Replacement [08/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH (for 2ZR-FE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH (for 2ZR-FAE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  3. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RH (for 2ZR-FE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  4. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RH (for 2ZR-FAE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  5. DRAIN CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE FLUID 
    1. Remove the refill plug and gasket from the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

    2. Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the overflow plug and gasket from the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

    3. Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube from the transaxle oil (CVT) pan sub-assembly.

      *1 No. 1 Transmission Oil Filler Tube

      HINT: 

      Removing the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube will drain all oil in the transaxle oil (CVT) pan sub-assembly.

    4. Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, install the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube to the transaxle oil (CVT) pan sub-assembly.

      Torque: 1.7 N*m (17 kgf*cm, 15 in.*lbf) 

    5. Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, temporarily install the overflow plug and gasket to the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

      HINT: 

      Reuse the old gasket as the overflow plug will be removed again to adjust the fluid level.

    6. Temporarily install the gasket and refill plug to the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

      HINT: 

      Reuse the old gasket as the refill plug will be removed again to adjust the fluid level.

  6. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - 08/2016] Refer to REMOVAL [08/2016 - ]

  7. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT OIL SEAL LH 
    1. Using SST, remove the front drive shaft oil seal LH from the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

      • SST: 09308-00010 
  8. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT OIL SEAL RH 
    1. Using SST, remove the front drive shaft oil seal RH from the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

      • SST: 09308-00010 
  9. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT OIL SEAL LH 
    1. Apply MP grease to the lip of a new front drive shaft oil seal LH.
    2. Using SST and a hammer, install the front drive shaft oil seal LH to the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

      • SST: 09387-00010 
      • SST: 09950-70010 
        1. 09951-07150

      Standard Depth

      -0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0197 in.)

      NOTE:
      • Be sure to install the front drive shaft oil seal LH in the correct direction.
      • Make sure to install the front drive shaft oil seal LH as specified, otherwise malfunctions such as a fluid leak will occur.
  10. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT OIL SEAL RH 
    1. Apply MP grease to the lip of a new front drive shaft oil seal RH.
    2. Using SST and a hammer, install the front drive shaft oil seal RH to the continuously variable transaxle assembly.

      • SST: 09554-14010 
      • SST: 09950-70010 
        1. 09951-07100

      Standard Depth

      -0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0197 in.)

      NOTE:
      • Be sure to install the front drive shaft oil seal RH in the correct direction.
      • Make sure to install the front drive shaft oil seal RH as specified, otherwise malfunctions such as a fluid leak will occur.
