Removal [08/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  2. REMOVE NO. 2 CYLINDER HEAD COVER (for 2ZR-FE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  3. REMOVE NO. 2 CYLINDER HEAD COVER (for 2ZR-FAE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE (for 2ZR-FE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE (for 2ZR-FAE) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2ZR-FE)

  7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2ZR-FAE)

  8. REMOVE BATTERY (for 2ZR-FE)

  9. REMOVE BATTERY (for 2ZR-FAE)

  10. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER (for 2ZR-FE)

  11. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER (for 2ZR-FAE)

  12. SEPARATE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Move the shift lever to N.
    2. Remove the nut and separate the transmission control cable assembly from the control shaft lever.

    3. Remove the clip and separate the transmission control cable assembly from the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket.
  13. REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the nut, washer and control shaft lever from the park/neutral position switch assembly.

    2. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
    3. Pry out the lock plate and remove the lock nut and lock plate from the park/neutral position switch assembly.

    4. Remove the 2 bolts and park/neutral position switch assembly from the continuously variable transaxle assembly.
