AWD Control Switch Circuit [12/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT 4WD LOCK LIGHT 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Four Wheel Drive / Active Test

      Chassis > Four Wheel Drive > Active Test 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Control Range Diagnostic Note
      4WD LOCK Light AWD lock mode indicator light Indicator light OFF/ON Observe combination meter assembly

      Chassis > Four Wheel Drive > Active Test

    6. When performing the 4WD Warning Light Active Test, check 4WD Warning Light in the Data List.

      Chassis > Four Wheel Drive > Data List

      4WD LOCK Light AWD lock mode indicator light OFF or ON OFF: AWD lock mode indicator light off
      OFF: AWD lock mode indicator light on

    Result:  2

    REPLACE 4WD ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2013 - ]

  2. INSPECT DIFFERENTIAL LOCK SWITCH 
    1. Remove the AWD lock switch (differential lock switch).

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ]

    2. Inspect the AWD lock switch (differential lock switch).

      Refer to INSPECTION [12/2013 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPLACE DIFFERENTIAL LOCK SWITCH. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2013 - ] 

    Result:  1

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DIFFERENTIAL LOCK SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F56-6 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  1

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DIFFERENTIAL LOCK SWITCH - 4WD ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Reinstall the AWD lock switch (differential lock switch).

      Refer to INSTALLATION [12/2013 - ]

    2. Disconnect the F14 4WD ECU assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F14-10 (4WDL) - Body ground AWD lock switch on Below 1 Ω
      AWD lock switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPLACE 4WD ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2013 - ]
