Removal [11/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 

    (Refer to PRECAUTION [11/2015 - ] )

  2. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  3. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [11/2015 - ] )

  4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 

    See step  3 and See step  3

  5. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    1. Remove the 3 screws.

    2. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the lower steering column cover.

  6. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER

    1. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the upper steering column cover.
  7. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:
    • Do not replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the negative (-) auxiliary battery cable connected and the ignition switch on (IG).
    • Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly without the steering wheel with the negative (-) auxiliary battery cable connected and the ignition switch on (IG).
    • Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.
    • Do not remove the steering sensor from the spiral cable.
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly.
    2. Using pliers, expand the clamp.

      *1 Clamp
      *2 Claw
    3. While holding the clamp expanded, raise the claw using a screwdriver to disengage it, and then remove the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly from the steering column assembly.
  8. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIR BAG ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [11/2015 - ] )

  9. REMOVE COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET 
    1. Remove the 2 clips and the column hole cover silencer sheet.

  10. SEPARATE STEERING SLIDING YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Put matchmarks on the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly and steering gear assembly.

    2. Loosen bolt A.
    3. Remove bolt B.
    4. Separate the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly from the steering gear assembly.
  11. REMOVE STEERING SLIDING YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Put matchmarks on the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly and No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.

    2. Remove the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly from the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.
  12. REMOVE NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Put matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and steering column assembly.

    2. Remove the bolt.
    3. Remove the steering intermediate shaft assembly from the steering column assembly.
  13. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL SUPPORT ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [11/2015 - ] )

  14. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [11/2015 - 06/2017] and Refer to REMOVAL [06/2017 - ] )

  15. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the 2 connectors from the power steering ECU assembly.

    2. Disengage the wire harness clamp.
    3. Disconnect the connectors and disengage the wire harness clamps from the steering column assembly.
    4. Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and steering column assembly.
