Steering Angle Sensor Communication Stop Mode [08/2015 - ]: Procedure
- CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS LINES (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY BRANCH WIRE)
- Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
- Disconnect the L51 spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition L51-4 (CANH) - L51-3 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 54 to 69 Ω TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION*a Front view of wire harness connector
(to Spiral Cable with Sensor Sub-assembly)
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH LINE OR CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY)
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition L51-2 (ESS) - Body ground Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal Below 1 Ω TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION*a Front view of wire harness connector
(to Spiral Cable with Sensor Sub-assembly) - Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage

OK → Refer to 3
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
- REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ]
