Additional Key cannot be Registered [12/2012 - ]: Procedure

1. Check for DTCs.

   Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2012 - ]

   Body Electrical > Smart Key > Trouble Codes 

   NOTE:

   If a malfunction occurs, do not remove/install the vehicle battery before checking for DTCs.

   Result	Proceed to
   	DTC is not output
   	DTC is output

Result: 

DTC is output 

GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2012 - 08/2016]  or  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2016 - ]  . 

Result: 

DTC is not output

1. Check that the steering wheel unlocks.

   Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2012 - ] .

   OK

   The steering wheel unlocks.

   HINT: 

   Check that the communication between the steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator assembly) and certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) is normal.

Result: 

NG 

GO TO STEERING LOCK SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2012 - ]

1. Using other unregistered electrical key transmitter sub-assemblies, perform the additional registration procedure.

   Refer to REGISTRATION [12/2012 - ] .

   OK

   Additional registration can be completed.

REPLACE ELECTRICAL KEY TRANSMITTER SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2012 - 10/2015]  or  REMOVAL [10/2015 - ]  .

1. Temporarily replace the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) with a new one and register the electrical key transmitter sub-assemblies to the new ECU.

   HINT: 

   • For replacement.

     Refer to REMOVAL [12/2012 - 10/2015] or REMOVAL [10/2015 - ] .

   • For registration.

     Refer to REGISTRATION [12/2012 - ] .

   OK

   The key ID can be registered.

   Results	Proceed to
