Driver Side Door Entry Lock and Unlock Functions do not Operate [12/2012 - ]: Procedure
- CHECK POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM
- When the door control switch on the multiplex network master switch assembly is operated, check that the doors unlock and lock according to the switch operation.
Refer to OPERATION CHECK [12/2012 - ]
Result Proceed to Door locks operate normally Door locks do not operate
Result:
Door locks do not operate
GO TO POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM. Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2012 - ]
Result:
Door locks operate normally
See step 2
- When the door control switch on the multiplex network master switch assembly is operated, check that the doors unlock and lock according to the switch operation.
- CHECK WAVE ENVIRONMENT
- Bring the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly approximately 0.3 m (0.984 ft.) from the front door outside handle assembly (for driver door) and perform an entry function check.
Refer to OPERATION CHECK [12/2012 - 08/2016] or OPERATION CHECK [08/2016 - ] .
*a Approximately 0.3 m (0.984 ft.) NOTE:If the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is brought within 0.2 m (0.656 ft.) of the door handle, communication may not be possible.
HINT:
If the inspection result is that the problem only occurs in certain locations or at certain times of day, the possibility of wave interference is high. Also, added vehicle components may cause wave interference. If installed, remove them and perform the operation check.
Result Proceed to Entry function does not operate normally Entry function operates normally
Result:
Entry function operates normally
AFFECTED BY WAVE INTERFERENCE
Result:
Entry function does not operate normally
See step 3
- Bring the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly approximately 0.3 m (0.984 ft.) from the front door outside handle assembly (for driver door) and perform an entry function check.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE ASSEMBLY - CERTIFICATION ECU AND BODY GROUND)
- Disconnect the J6 front door outside handle assembly (for driver door) connector.
- Disconnect the G84 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition J6-3 (ANT2) - G84-13 (CG1B) Always Below 1 Ω J6-6 (ANT1) - G84-12 (CLG1) Always Below 1 Ω J6-5 (B) - G84-19 (POS1) Always Below 1 Ω J6-2 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω J6-3 (ANT2) or G84-13 (CG1B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher J6-6 (ANT1) or J84-12 (CLG1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher J6-5 (B) or G84-19 (POS1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher Results Proceed to OK NG
Result:

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
Result:
OK
See step 4
- CHECK CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) (OUTPUT TO DRIVER DOOR ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA)
- Connect the G84 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
*a Front view of wire harness connector
(to Front Door Outside Handle Assembly [for Driver Door])*b Waveform - Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition J6-5 (B) - J6-2 (GND) Engine switch off → on (IG) 9 to 12 V → Below 2 V - Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform.
OK
Tester Connection Switch Condition Tool Setting Specified Condition J6-3 (ANT2) - J6-6 (ANT1) Procedure: - Engine switch off
- Electrical key transmitter sub-assembly brought outside vehicle
- All doors closed
- Electrical key transmitter sub-assembly not inside vehicle
- Electrical key transmitter sub-assembly brought outside detection area*
- All doors locked through wireless operation
2 V/DIV., 500 ms/DIV. Pulse generation
(See waveform)- *: For details about the areas that are inside the entry function detection area, refer to Operation Check.
Refer to OPERATION CHECK [12/2012 - 08/2016] or OPERATION CHECK [08/2016 - ] .
Results Proceed to OK NG
Result:

REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY). Refer to REMOVAL [12/2012 - 10/2015] or REMOVAL [10/2015 - ] .
Result:
OK
See step 5
- Connect the G84 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
- REPLACE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE ASSEMBLY (FOR DRIVER DOOR)
- Temporarily replace the front door outside handle assembly (for driver door) with a new or known good one.
Refer to DISASSEMBLY [12/2012 - ]
Result:
