Distance Control Switch Circuit [12/2015 - 11/2017]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the steering pad switch assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - ] ).
    2. Inspect the steering pad switch assembly (Refer to INSPECTION [12/2015 - 11/2017] ).

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - ] )

    Result: 

    OK

  2. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:

    The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may cause airbag deployment. Be sure to read shown in the brackets.

    1. Remove the spiral cable sub-assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - ] ).
    2. Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly (Refer to INSPECTION [12/2015 - ] ).

      HINT: 

      The spiral cable makes a maximum of approximately 5 rotations.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - ] )

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - DRIVING SUPPORT ECU, BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the A44 driving support ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D149-12 (DIST) - A44-7 (MODE) Always Below 1 Ω
      D149-12 (DIST) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D149-2 (ECC) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the driving support ECU connector.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. INSPECT DRIVING SUPPORT ECU 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A44-7 (MODE) - Body ground Distance control switch on 0 to 2 V
      Distance control switch off 11 to 14 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Driving Support ECU)

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    (Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [12/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [08/2016 - 11/2017] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE DRIVING SUPPORT ECU 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - 11/2017] )
