Steering Pad Switch Circuit [12/2015 - 11/2017]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the steering pad switch assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - ] ).
    2. Inspect the steering pad switch assembly (Refer to INSPECTION [12/2015 - 11/2017] ).

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - ] )

    Result: 

    OK

  2. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - ] ).
    2. Inspect the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly (Refer to INSPECTION [12/2015 - ] ).
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      OK (w/o Steering Heater) A
      OK (w/ Steering Heater) B
      NG C

    Result: 

    See step  4

    Result: 

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - ] )

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the D153 navigation receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the D21 spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D153-21 (SW1) - D21-6 (AU1) Always Below 1 Ω
      D153-22 (SW2) - D21-5 (AU2) Always Below 1 Ω
      D153-23 (SWG) - D21-3 (EAU) Always Below 1 Ω
      D153-21 (SW1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D153-22 (SW2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D153-23 (SWG) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    (Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [12/2015 - 08/2016] Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [08/2016 - 11/2017] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the D153 navigation receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the D149 spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D153-21 (SW1) - D149-6 (AU1) Always Below 1 Ω
      D153-22 (SW2) - D149-5 (AU2) Always Below 1 Ω
      D153-23 (SWG) - D149-3 (EAU) Always Below 1 Ω
      D153-21 (SW1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D153-22 (SW2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D153-23 (SWG) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    (Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [12/2015 - 08/2016] Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [08/2016 - 11/2017] )
