Mass Air Flow Meter: Inspection: Procedure

INSPECT MASS AIR FLOW METER

Visual Inspection
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  Refer to REMOVAL
2. Remove the MAF sensor/IAT sensor No. 1.
  Refer to REMOVAL
3. Visually inspect the MAF sensor for the following:
  - Damage, cracks, dirt
  - Rusted sensor terminal
  - Bent sensor terminal
    - If there is any malfunction, repair or replace the MAF sensor/IAT sensor No. 1.
      Refer to REMOVAL

Voltage Inspection

Remove the MAF sensor/IAT sensor No. 1 without disconnect the connector.
Refer to REMOVAL
Connect the techstream to the DLC-2.
Switch the ignition ON (engine off).

As the air gradually approaches the MAF detection part of the MAF sensor/IAT sensor No. 1, verify that the MAF sensor output voltage (PID: MAF) varies.

Refer to ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST

If not as specified, replace the MAF sensor/IAT sensor No. 1.
