Mass Air Flow Meter: Inspection: Procedure

  1. INSPECT MASS AIR FLOW METER 
    1. Visual Inspection
      1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

        Refer to REMOVAL

      2. Remove the MAF sensor/IAT sensor No. 1.

        Refer to REMOVAL 

      3. Visually inspect the MAF sensor for the following:
        • Damage, cracks, dirt
        • Rusted sensor terminal
        • Bent sensor terminal
          • If there is any malfunction, repair or replace the MAF sensor/IAT sensor No. 1.

            Refer to REMOVAL 

    2. Voltage Inspection
      1. Remove the MAF sensor/IAT sensor No. 1 without disconnect the connector.

        Refer to REMOVAL 

      2. Connect the techstream to the DLC-2.
      3. Switch the ignition ON (engine off).
      4. As the air gradually approaches the MAF detection part of the MAF sensor/IAT sensor No. 1, verify that the MAF sensor output voltage (PID: MAF) varies.

        Refer to ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST

        If not as specified, replace the MAF sensor/IAT sensor No. 1.
