  1. INAPPROPRIATE OPERATION AND CONTROL RECORD 
  2. HOW TO USE 

    HINT: 

    • Because the inappropriate operation and control record cannot be cleared, always check the odometer value and verify that repairs have not already been performed.
    • If any inappropriate operation and control record is displayed, refer to the corresponding troubleshooting for the inappropriate operation and control code to explain to the customer, and perform malfunction diagnosis.

  3. OPERATION PROCEDURE 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC-2.
    2. After vehicle identification, select the following from the Techstream initial screen.
      1. "Operational Record"
    3. Then, select the followings from the screen menu.
      1. "Inappropriate Operation and Control Record"
      2. "ECM"
    4. Display the DTC store record history according to the screen instructions.

    NOTE:

    The temperature restriction control is to prevent part damage. It is not a control which operates when a malfunction occurs Therefore, do not replace the part.

  5. OUTLINE 
    • If the driver continues to depress the accelerator pedal accidentally while asleep with the vehicle stopped and the engine running, the continuous high engine speed causes the temperature of the engine and exhaust system parts to increase. If the temperature of the engine and exhaust system parts increases, it may cause part damage.

      To prevent this, the ECM performs the temperature restriction control when the following operation conditions are met.

  6. OPERATION CONDITIONS 
    Operation conditions Determination conditions
    • When any of the following condition is met:
      • Engine coolant temperature continuously reaches high temperature range
      • Engine speed continuously reaches high engine speed range
    HINT: 
    • Determination period is extended as engine speed lowers
    Preconditions
    • All of the following conditions are met:
      • Engine coolant temperature: 40°C {104°F} or more
      • While vehicle is stopped
      • Shift lever position is neutral (MTX)
      • Selector lever position is P or N position (ATX)
      • Accelerator pedal is depressed
  7. PROTECTION CONTROL 
    • Limits the intake air amount.
