DTC B1D06-13: Left Turn Indicator Circuit Open: Procedure

  1. VERIFY MAIN BODY ECU DTCS AGAIN 
    1. Clear the DTC for the main body ECU using the Techstream.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR

      Body Electrical > Body Control Module > Clear DTCs 

    2. Retrieve the main body ECU DTCs using the Techstream.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR

      Body Electrical > Body Control Module > Trouble Codes 

    3. Is the same DTC displayed?

      Result

      No

  2. DETERMINE MALFUNCTIONING LIGHT 
    1. Operate the turn switch to the LH position.
    2. Are there any lights among the following which do not flash or continue to be illuminated?
      • Front turn light (LH)
      • Rear turn light (LH)

      Result

      All lights do not flash or continue to be illuminated Yes (A)
      Front turn light (LH) does not flash or continue to be illuminated Yes (B)
      Rear turn light (LH) do not flash or continue to be illuminated Yes (C)

  3. INSPECT MAIN BODY ECU CONNECTOR CONDITION 
    1. Switch the ignition off
    2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

      Refer to REMOVAL

    3. Disconnect the main body ECU connector.
    4. Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
    5. Is the connector normal?

      Result

  4. VISUALLY INSPECT FRONT TURN SIGNAL LIGHT BULB (LH) 
    1. Visually inspect the front turn signal light bulb (LH).
    2. Is the front turn signal light bulb (LH) normal?

  5. INSPECT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY (LH) CONNECTOR CONDITION 
    1. Switch the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

      Refer to REMOVAL

    3. Disconnect the headlight assembly light (LH) connector.
    4. Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
    5. Is the connector normal?

      Result

  6. INSPECT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY (LH) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT 
    1. Verify that the headlight assembly (LH) connector is disconnected.
    2. Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side) and body ground:
      • Headlight assembly (LH) terminal A24-3 (With headlight assembly (bulb type)
      • Headlight assembly (LH) terminal A23-5 (With headlight assembly (LED type)
    3. Is there continuity?

  7. INSPECT MAIN BODY ECU CONNECTOR CONDITION 
    1. Disconnect the main body ECU connector.
    2. Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
    3. Is the connector normal?

  8. INSPECT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY (LH) CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
    1. Verify that the headlight assembly (LH) and main body ECU connectors are disconnected.
    2. Connect the negative battery cable.

      Refer to INSTALLATION

    3. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
    4. Measure the voltage at the main body ECU terminal A1-13 (wiring harness-side).
    5. Is the voltage 0 V?

  9. INSPECT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY (LH) CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT 
    1. Switch the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

      Refer to REMOVAL

    3. Verify that the headlight assembly (LH) and main body ECU connectors are disconnected.
    4. Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side):
      • Headlight assembly (LH) terminal A24-5 - main body ECU terminal A1-13 (With headlight assembly (bulb type)
      • Headlight assembly (LH) terminal A23-7 - main body ECU terminal A1-13 (With headlight assembly (LED type)
    5. Is there continuity?

  10. VISUALLY INSPECT REAR TURN LIGHT 
    1. Visually inspect the rear turn signal light bulb (LH).
    2. Is the rear turn signal light bulb (LH) normal?

  11. INSPECT REAR TURN LIGHT (LH) CONNECTOR CONDITION 
    1. Switch the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

      Refer to REMOVAL

    3. Disconnect the rear turn light (LH) connector.
    4. Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
    5. Is the connector normal?

  12. INSPECT REAR TURN LIGHT (LH) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT 
    1. Verify that the rear turn light (LH) connector is disconnected.
    2. Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side) and body ground:
      • Rear turn light (LH) terminal E42-2
    3. Is there continuity?

    1. Disconnect the main body ECU connector.

    3. Is the connector normal?

  14. INSPECT TURN LIGHT (LH) CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
    1. Verify that the side turn signal light assembly (LH), rear turn light (LH) and main body ECU connectors are disconnected.
    2. Connect the negative battery cable.

      Refer to INSTALLATION

    3. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
    4. Measure the voltage at the main body ECU terminal E41-4 (wiring harness-side).
    5. Is the voltage 0 V?

  15. INSPECT TURN LIGHT (LH) CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT 
    1. Switch the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

      Refer to REMOVAL

    3. Verify that the side turn signal light assembly (LH), rear turn light (LH) and main body ECU connectors are disconnected.
    4. Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side):
      • Rear turn light (LH) terminal E42-1 - main body ECU terminal E41-4
      • Outer rear view mirror (LH) terminal F30-5 - main body ECU terminal E41-4
    5. Is there continuity?

  16. VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED 
    1. Always reconnect all disconnected connectors.
    2. Connect the negative battery cable.

      Refer to INSTALLATION

    3. Clear the DTC for the main body ECU using the Techstream.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR

      Body Electrical > Body Control Module > Clear DTCs 

    4. Retrieve the main body ECU DTCs using the Techstream.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR

      Body Electrical > Body Control Module > Trouble Codes 

    5. Is the same DTC displayed?

      Result

  17. VERIFY IF OTHER DTCS DISPLAYED 
    1. Are any other DTCs displayed?

    REPAIR OR REPLACE THE MALFUNCTIONING PART ACCORDING TO THE APPLICABLE DTC TROUBLESHOOTING.

  18. REPEAT THE INSPECTION FROM STEP 1. 
    1. If the malfunction recurs, replace the main body ECU.

      Refer to REMOVAL

    2. Go to the next step.

  19. REFER TO THE WIRING DIAGRAM AND VERIFY WHETHER OR NOT THERE IS A COMMON CONNECTOR BETWEEN THE FOLLOWING TERMINALS: 
    • Rear turn light (LH) terminal E42-1 - main body ECU terminal E41-4
    • Outer rear view mirror (LH) terminal E30-5 - main body ECU terminal E41-4
    1. If there is a common connector:
      1. Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for an open circuit.
      2. Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.
    2. If there is no common connector:

      Repair or replace the wiring harness which has an open circuit.

    3. Go to the next step.

  20. REFER TO THE WIRING DIAGRAM AND VERIFY WHETHER OR NOT THERE IS A COMMON CONNECTOR BETWEEN THE FOLLOWING TERMINALS: 
    • Rear turn light (LH) terminal E42-1 - main body ECU terminal E41-4
    • Outer rear view mirror (LH) terminal F30-5 - main body ECU terminal E41-4
    1. If there is a common connector:
      1. Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for a short to power supply.
      2. Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.
    2. If there is no common connector:

      Repair or replace the wiring harness which has a short to power supply.

    3. Go to Step 16.

  21. REPAIR OR REPLACE THE CONNECTOR, THEN GO TO STEP 16.

    • Rear turn light (LH) terminal E42-2 - Body ground
    1. If there is a common connector:
      1. Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for an open circuit.
      2. Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.
    2. If there is no common connector:

      Repair or replace the wiring harness which has an open circuit.

    3. Go to Step 16.

  25. REFER TO THE WIRING DIAGRAM AND VERIFY WHETHER OR NOT THERE IS A COMMON CONNECTOR BETWEEN THE FOLLOWING TERMINALS: 
    • Headlight assembly (LH) terminal A24-5 - main body ECU terminal A1-13 (With headlight assembly (bulb type)
    • Headlight assembly (LH) terminal A23-7 - main body ECU terminal A1-13 (With headlight assembly (LED type)
    1. If there is a common connector:
      1. Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for an open circuit.
      2. Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.
    2. If there is no common connector:

      Repair or replace the wiring harness which has an open circuit.

    3. Go to Step 16.

  26. REFER TO THE WIRING DIAGRAM AND VERIFY WHETHER OR NOT THERE IS A COMMON CONNECTOR BETWEEN THE FOLLOWING TERMINALS: 
    • Headlight assembly (LH) terminal A24-5 - main body ECU terminal A1-13 (With headlight assembly (bulb type) and without headlight manual leveling system)
    • Headlight assembly (LH) terminal A23-7 - main body ECU terminal A1-13 (With headlight assembly (LED type) or headlight manual leveling system)
    1. If there is a common connector:
      1. Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for a short to power supply.
      2. Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.
    2. If there is no common connector:

      Repair or replace the wiring harness which has a short to power supply.

    3. Go to Step 16.

      2. Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.
    2. If there is no common connector:

      Repair or replace the wiring harness which has an open circuit.
