DTC C0023-14: Stop Lamp Control Circuit Short To Ground Or Open: Contents

Description Brake light circuit malfunction
Detection condition
  • Main body ECU detects any of the following conditions:
    1. Brake lights/high mounted stop light assembly illuminated even though driver or system does not illuminate brake lights/high mounted stop light assemblies.
    2. Brake lights/high mounted stop light assembly not illuminated even though driver depresses brake pedal.
    3. Brake lights/high mounted stop light assembly not illuminated even though system illuminates brake lights/high mounted stop light assembly.
Fail-safe
  • Turn the brake light off.
Possible cause
  • Brake light bulb (LH) malfunction
  • Brake light bulb (RH) malfunction
  • High mounted stop light assembly connector or terminal malfunction
  • Brake light (LH) connector or terminal malfunction
  • Brake light (RH) connector or terminal malfunction
  • Main body ECU connector or terminal malfunction
  • Short to ground in wiring harness between the following terminals:

    - Brake light (LH) terminal E37-3 - main body ECU terminal E1-30

    - Brake light (RH) terminal E38-3 - main body ECU terminal E1-30

    - High mounted stop light assembly terminal E46-2 - main body ECU terminal E1-30

  • Short to ground in wiring harness between the following terminals:

    - Brake light (LH) terminal E37-3 - main body ECU terminal E1-30

    - Brake light (RH) terminal E38-3 - main body ECU terminal E1-30

    - High mounted stop light assembly terminal A46-2 - main body ECU terminal E1-30

  • Short to ground in wiring harness between the following terminals:

    - Brake light (LH) terminal E37-3 - main body ECU terminal E1-30

    - Brake light (RH) terminal E38-3 - main body ECU terminal E1-30

    - High mounted stop light assembly terminal E46-2 - main body ECU terminal E1-30

  • High mounted stop light assembly malfunction
  • Brake light (LH) malfunction
  • Brake light (RH) malfunction
  • Main body ECU malfunction
