Installation [03/2017 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 

    See step  3

  2. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the steering column assembly with the 2 nuts and new bolt.

      Torque: 40 N*m (408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:

      When installing the steering column assembly, be careful that the wire harness does not interfere with or is not pinched between other parts.

    2. Engage the clamp.

    3. Connect the 2 connectors to the power steering ECU assembly.
      1. As shown in the illustration, return the lock lever to its original position to connect the connector and securely push in the lock of the lock lever.

        *b Push in the lock
    4. Connect the each connector to engage the wire harness clamps to the steering column assembly.
  3. INSTALL STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Pass the steering intermediate shaft assembly through the hole in the body from the inside of the cabin.
    2. Connect the steering intermediate shaft assembly to the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly.

      *1 Matchmark
      NOTE:

      Align the matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft assembly and the rack and pinion power steering gear assembly.

    3. Install a new bolt.

      Torque: 35 N*m (357 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) 

    4. Install the steering intermediate shaft assembly to the steering column assembly.

      *1 Matchmark
      NOTE:

      Align the matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft assembly and the steering column assembly.

    5. Install a new bolt.

      Torque: 35 N*m (357 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) 

    6. Engage the 4 claws to install the dust seal.
  4. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:
    • Do not replace the spiral cable sub-assembly with the battery connected and the ignition switch ON.
    • Do not rotate the spiral cable sub-assembly with the battery connected and the ignition switch ON.
    • Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.
    1. With the clamp loosened, install the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly to the steering column assembly.
    2. Engage the claw on the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly to the steering column assembly and tighten the clamp.
    3. Connect each connector to the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly.
  5. INSTALL UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    1. Engage the 2 claws to install the upper steering column cover.
  6. INSTALL LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    1. Engage the 6 claws to install the lower steering column cover.
    2. Install the 2 screws.
  7. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER SUPPORT (w/ Smart Key System) 
    1. Engage the 4 claws and install the steering column cover support.
  8. INSTALL UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL METER ORNAMENT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  9. INSTALL METER HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  10. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL ORNAMENT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  11. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  12. INSPECT AND ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  13. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT 
  14. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [06/2016 - ] 

  15. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  16. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  17. INSTALL INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH 
    1. Engage the 4 clips and claw to install the instrument side panel LH.

  18. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  19. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  20. VSC SENSOR NEUTRAL MEMORIZATION 

    Refer to CALIBRATION [06/2016 - ]

  21. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT
