DTC P0443-13: Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve "A" Circuit Open [11/2018 - 08/2020]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (ACTIVATE THE EVAP PURGE VSV)

    1. Disconnect the fuel vapor feed hose assembly (canister side) of the purge VSV.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Put the engine in Inspection Mode (Maintenance Mode).

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Utility 

      Tester Display
      Inspection Mode
    6. Start the engine.
    7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Activate the EVAP Purge VSV.

      Powertrain > Engine > Active Test 

      Tester Display
      Activate the EVAP Purge VSV
    8. When the purge VSV is operated using the Techstream, check whether the port of the purge VSV applies suction your finger.

      OK

      Techstream Operation Specified Condition
      ON Purge VSV port applies suction to finger
      OFF Purge VSV port applies no suction to finger

      HINT: 

      Jiggle the wire harness and connector to increase the likelihood of detecting malfunctions that do not always occur.

    Result:

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [11/2018 - 08/2020]

  2. INSPECT PURGE VSV 
    1. Inspect the purge VSV.

      Refer to INSPECTION [11/2018 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE PURGE VSV. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF PURGE VSV)

    (to Purge VSV)
    1. Disconnect the purge VSV connector.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C19-1 - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (EFI-MAIN NO. 1 RELAY - PURGE VSV) 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PURGE VSV - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the purge VSV connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C19-2 - C45-66 (PRG) Always Below 1 Ω
      C19-2 or C45-66 (PRG) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 02/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [02/2019 - 08/2020] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
