DTC B2282: Vehicle Speed Signal Malfunction; DTC B2283: Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction [08/2019 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VEHICLE SPEED METER) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      COMBINATION METER

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Vehicle Speed Meter Vehicle speed/
      Min.: 0 km/h (0 mph), Max.: 255 km/h (158 mph)
      Almost same as actual vehicle speed -

      HINT: 

      Using a speedometer tester, check the actual vehicle speed and the vehicle speed displayed on the Techstream.

      OK

      Vehicle speed displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as the actual vehicle speed measured using a speedometer tester.

      Result

    Result: 

    NG 

    GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM (Speedometer Malfunction). Refer to  Speedometer Malfunction [08/2019 - ]

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL) 
    1. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Power Source Control / Data List.
    2. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      POWER SOURCE CONTROL

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Vehicle Speed Signal Vehicle being driven or stopped/
      Stop or Run
      Stop: Vehicle stopped
      Run: Vehicle being driven at 5 km/h (3 mph) or more

    GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM (HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING). Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2015 - ]

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the J199 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    2. Disconnect the J28 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Disconnect the A24 ECM connector.
    4. Disconnect the J202 radio and display receiver assembly connector.
    5. w/ Navigation System

      Disconnect the J206 navigation ECU connector.

    6. for 14 Speakers:

      Disconnect the J209 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.

    7. w/ Intuitive Parking Assist System

      Disconnect the J35 clearance warning ECU assembly connector.

    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J199-5 (SPD) - J28-29 (+S) Always Below 1 Ω
      J199-5 (SPD) or J28-29 (+S) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    9. Reconnect the J199 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    10. Reconnect the J28 combination meter assembly connector.
    11. Reconnect the A24 ECM connector.
    12. Reconnect the J202 radio and display receiver assembly connector.
    13. w/ Navigation System

      Reconnect the J206 navigation ECU connector.

    14. for 14 Speakers:

      Reconnect the J209 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.

    15. w/ Intuitive Parking Assist System

      Reconnect the J35 clearance warning ECU assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform.

      The wavelength becomes shorter as the vehicle speed increases.

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EACH ECU - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the combination meter assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the J35 clearance warning ECU assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      J28-29 (+S) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the combination meter assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE CLEARANCE WARNING ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ]

    2. Disconnect the J209 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

    4. Reconnect the combination meter assembly connector.

      Result

    1. Disconnect the combination meter assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the J206 navigation ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      J28-29 (+S) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the combination meter assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE NAVIGATION ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2019 - ]

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EACH ECU - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the combination meter assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the A24 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

    1. Disconnect the J202 radio and display receiver assembly connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
