Steering Angle Sensor Communication Stop Mode [06/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS LINES (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY) BRANCH WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the D56 steering angle sensor (spiral cable sub-assembly) connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D56-3 (CANH) - D56-2 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 57 to 63 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Steering Angle Sensor (Spiral Cable Sub-assembly))

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH LINE OR CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY) 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D56-1 (ESS) - Body ground Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal Below 1 Ω

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Steering Angle Sensor (Spiral Cable Sub-assembly))
    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D56-4 (IG1) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Steering Angle Sensor (Spiral Cable Sub-assembly))

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY) 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [06/2016 - 03/2017] , or refer to REMOVAL [03/2017 - ] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)
