Installation [03/2019 - ]: Procedure
- INSTALL STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY
- Guide steering column assembly (1) into No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly (2) during positioning.
- Replace T45 bolts (2).
- Position T45 bolts (2) on the steering column assembly (1).
HINT:
Do not tighten the bolts yet.
- Replace T45 bolts (1).
- Position T45 bolts (1) on the steering column assembly at the top.
HINT:
Tightening occurs in the sequence in the next work step.
- The bolts must be tightened in the order (1) to (4).

Torque: 28 N.m (286 kgf/cm, 21 ft.lbf)
- Clip in the vehicle wiring harness into the bracket (1).
- Guide steering column assembly (1) into No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly (2) during positioning.
- INSTALL LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

- INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY
Refer to INSTALLATION [03/2019 - 07/2020] , or refer to INSTALLATION [07/2020 - ]
- CONNECT STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

- INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER LOWER PROTECTOR

- INSPECT AIRBAG FOR FUNCTION
- Turn the steering wheel in both directions to the limit position.
- The airbag indicator light lights up:
- Replace the spiral cable sub-assembly.
- START-UP OF ELECTROMECHANICAL STEERING
- Connect the diagnosis system to the vehicle and enter the following menus:
Vehicle management / Service functions / Chassis / Electromechanical power steering / EPS: Steering start-up
- Connect the diagnosis system to the vehicle and enter the following menus:
- INSPECT STRAIGHT-AHEAD DRIVING POSITION OF THE STEERING WHEEL
- During straight-ahead driving:
- Check for correct straight-ahead driving position of the steering wheel.
- The steering wheel has an inclination:
- Move the steering shaft on the bottom at the steering column.
HINT:
If the steering wheel continues to have an inclination, carry out a toe adjustment at the front axle.
