Removal [03/2019 - 09/2019]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 

    Refer to PRECAUTION [03/2019 - 09/2022]

  2. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  3. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022]

  4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 

    See step  3

  5. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:

    Removing the lower steering column cover sub-assembly in the incorrect order will cause the parts to break.

    1. Release the tilt and telescopic lever and fully extend and lower the steering column assembly.
    2. Lock the tilt and telescopic lever.
    3. Remove the 3 screws.

      Push Area
      Push in this direction

      While pressing the push area shown in the illustration to disengage the 2 claws, slightly lower the lower steering column cover sub-assembly.

  6. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    1. Disengage the claw and separate the upper steering column cover.

      Separate in this direction

      Disengage the 2 claws and 4 clips to remove the upper steering column cover.

  7. REMOVE TRANSPONDER KEY COIL (w/o Smart Key System) 
    1. Disconnect the connector.

    2. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the transponder key coil.
  8. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:
    • Do not remove/install the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the auxiliary battery connected and the ignition switch (for Gasoline Model) or power switch (for HV Model) on (IG).
    • Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly without the steering wheel assembly installed, with the auxiliary battery connected and the ignition switch (for Gasoline Model) or power switch (for HV Model) on (IG).
    • Ensure that the steering wheel assembly is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.
    1. Disconnect each connector from the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly.
    2. Using pliers, expand the clamp.

    3. While holding the clamp expanded, raise the claw using a screwdriver to disengage it, and then remove the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly from the steering column assembly.
  9. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022]

  10. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  11. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  12. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR DUCT 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts.

    2. Disengage the 3 claws to remove the No. 1 air duct.
      NOTE:

      Be careful not to deform or damage the lower heater case of the air conditioner unit assembly when removing the No. 1 air duct.

  13. REMOVE COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET 
    1. Disengage the claw and open the column hole cover silencer sheet.

      Open in this direction
    2. Disengage the 2 claws to remove the column hole cover silencer sheet.

  14. SEPARATE NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Put matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and steering gear assembly.

      Separate in this direction
    2. Remove the bolt.
    3. Separate the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly from the steering gear assembly.
  15. REMOVE NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Put matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and steering column assembly.

      Remove in this direction
    2. Remove the bolt.
    3. Remove the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly from the steering column assembly.
  16. REMOVE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  17. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect each connector and disengage each wire harness clamp from the steering column assembly.
    2. Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and steering column assembly.
