Pattern Select Switch iMT Mode Circuit [06/2018 - 11/2022]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (iMT SW) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List.
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      iMT SW iMT switch (combination switch assembly) status ON or OFF
      • ON: iMT switch (combination switch assembly) being pushed
      • OFF: iMT switch (combination switch assembly) not being pushed
      -

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List 

      Tester Display
      iMT SW

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Data List value is normal A
      Data List value is not normal B

    Result: 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [06/2018 - 03/2019]  , or refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [03/2019 - 09/2022]  , or refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [09/2022 - 11/2022] 

    Result:

  2. INSPECT COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY (iMT SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the combination switch assembly.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Combination Switch Assembly (iMT Switch))

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 11/2022]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      6 (MSW1) - 5 (E) iMT switch (combination switch assembly) being pushed Below 50 Ω
      6 (MSW1) - 5 (E) iMT switch (combination switch assembly) not being pushed 10 kΩ or higher
    3. Install the combination switch assembly.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [06/2018 - 11/2022]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY (iMT SWITCH). Refer to  COMPONENTS [06/2018 - 11/2022] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the I61 combination switch assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I61-5 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Connect the I61 combination switch assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the A47 ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A47-38 (MTMS) - Body ground iMT switch (combination switch assembly) being pushed Below 50 Ω
      A47-38 (MTMS) - Body ground iMT switch (combination switch assembly) not being pushed 10 kΩ or higher
    3. Connect the A47 ECM connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [06/2018 - 03/2019]  , or refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [03/2019 - 09/2022]  , or refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [09/2022 - 11/2022] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - ECM)
