DTC P2121: Throttle / Pedal Position Sensor / Switch "D" Circuit Range / Performance [08/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2121) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
    5. Read DTCs.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      P2121 is output A
      P2121 and other DTCs are output B

      HINT: 

      If any DTCs other than P2121 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

    Result: 

    B 

    GO TO DTC CHART 

    (Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2016 - 08/2017] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2017 - 08/2018] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2018 - 08/2019] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2019 - ] )

    Result: 

    A

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR)

    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Accel Sensor Out No. 1 and Accel Sensor Out No. 2.
    4. Read the values displayed on the Techstream.

      Standard Voltage

      Accelerator Pedal Operations Accel Sensor Out No. 1 Accel Sensor Out No. 2
      Released 0.5 to 1.1 V 1.2 to 2.0 V
      Depressed 2.6 to 4.5 V 3.4 to 4.75 V

    Result: 

    OK 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    (Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [08/2015 - ] )

    Result: 

    NG

  3. REPLACE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the accelerator pedal assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] ).

    Result:

  4. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P2121) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
    3. Clear DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - ] ).
    4. Start the engine.
    5. Refer to the confirmation driving pattern.
    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
    7. Read DTCs.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      P2121 is output A
      No DTC is output B

    Result: 

    A 

    REPLACE ECM 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] )

    Result: 

    B
