Disassembly [11/2018 - 12/2021]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE TRANSPONDER KEY COIL (w/o Smart Key System) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  2. REMOVE STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR OR UPPER BRACKET ASSEMBLY (w/o Smart Key System) 
    1. Using a 3 mm pin punch, mark the center of the tapered-head bolt.
    2. Using a 3 to 4 mm drill bit, drill into the tapered-head bolt.
    3. Using a screw extractor, remove the bolt and steering column upper with switch bracket.

  3. REMOVE IGNITION SWITCH LOCK CYLINDER ASSEMBLY (w/o Smart Key System) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ACC.

      *a Push
      *b Pull
    2. Insert the tip of a screwdriver into the hole in the steering column upper bracket as shown in the illustration, and pull the ignition switch lock cylinder out until its claw comes into contact with the stopper of the steering column upper bracket.
      NOTE:

      Pull the ignition switch lock cylinder assembly out until its claw comes into contact with the stopper of the steering column upper bracket assembly. Otherwise, the following procedure cannot be conducted properly.

  4. REMOVE UN-LOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/o Smart Key System) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  5. REMOVE IGNITION OR STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/o Smart Key System) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  6. REMOVE STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR WITH ECU ASSEMBLY (w/ Smart Key System) 
    1. Using a center punch, mark the center of the tapered-head bolt.
    2. Using a 3 to 4 mm (0.119 to 0.157 in.) drill, drill a hole in the bolt.
    3. Using a screw extractor, remove the bolt and steering lock actuator with ECU assembly from the steering column sub-assembly.
