- POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
- The power window control system controls the power window UP/DOWN function using the power window regulator motor. The main controls of this system are the power window regulator master switch, which is built into the driver side door, and the power window regulator switches, which are built into the front passenger side door and rear doors.
- Pressing either of the power window switches on the power window regulator switches or either of the power window switches on the power window regulator master switch transmits an UP/DOWN signal to the corresponding power window regulator motor.
- An ECU is built into the power window regulator motor (for driver and front passenger side).
- FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT
The power window control system consists of the following components:
Component Outline Power window regulator master switch - Controls power window operation for all windows.
- When window lock switch is set to lock position, window operation will only be possible with driver side switch.
Power window regulator switch - Located on front passenger side door and rear doors.
- Each power window regulator switch controls power window operations for its respective window.
Power window regulator motor - Each power window switch controls power window operations for its respective windows.
- Receives power window switch signals and activates motor to change window position.
- Uses Hall-IC in regulator motor with ECU to detect window position and jamming (for driver and front passenger side).
Back door power window regulator switch Controls power window operation for back door window. Back door ECU Receives back door power window regulator switch signals and activates motor to change window position. - Receives back door power window regulator switch signals and activates motor to change window position.
- Uses Hall-IC in regulator motor to detect window position and jamming.
Back door power window regulator motor - Receives back door ECU signals and activates motor to change window position.
- Uses Hall-IC in regulator motor to detect window position and jamming.
- SYSTEM FUNCTION
The power window control system has the following functions:
Function Outline Manual UP function for Driver and Front Passenger Side:
Function that lowers a window while the power window regulator switch is pulled halfway up (the window stops as soon as the power window regulator switch is released).
for Rear Seats:
Function that lowers a window while the power window regulator switch is pulled up (the window stops as soon as the power window regulator switch is released).Manual DOWN function for Driver and Front Passenger Side:
Function that lowers a window while the power window regulator switch is pushed halfway down (the window stops as soon as the power window regulator switch is released).
for Rear Seats:
Function that lowers a window while the power window regulator switch is pushed down (the window stops as soon as power window regulator switch is released).AUTO DOWN function
(for Driver and Front Passenger Seat)Function that enables a window to be fully opened by one full push of the power window regulator switch. Remote UP/DOWN function Function that allows the power window regulator master switch to control the front passenger side power window and rear power windows. Window lock function - Function where the front passenger side power window regulator switch and rear power window regulator switch operations and back door power window regulator switch operation are disabled when the window lock switch is pressed.
- The front passenger side power window regulator switch and rear power window regulator switches can be operated when the window lock switch is pressed again.
Key-off operation function - Function that makes it possible to operate all power windows for approximately 45 seconds after the engine switch is turned off when the driver side door or front passenger side door has not been opened.
- If approximately 45 seconds have passed or a front door is opened while the AUTO function is operating, window operation stops.
Jam protection function
(for Driver and Front Passenger Side, Back Door Windows)- Function that automatically stops a power window and moves it downward if an object is jammed in the power window.
- Jam protection function works for AUTO UP and manual UP operation (except back door power window).
Key-linked open and close
(for Driver and Front Passenger Side)- When key is not inside the vehicle, the driver side door is locked, and the key inserted into driver side door key cylinder is turned and maintained in lock position for 2.3 seconds or more, the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) activates the power window regulator motors to close all power windows while the key is turned.
- Similarly, when the driver side door is unlocked, turning and maintaining the driver side door key in the unlock position for 2.3 seconds or more will cause all power windows to open.
Back Door Power Window Function - Pressing the unlock switch on the tail gate control switch for approximately 0.7 seconds or more causes the back door window to open and wireless buzzer sounds.
- Pressing the lock switch on the tail gate control switch for approximately 0.7 seconds or more causes the back door window to close and wireless buzzer sounds.
Diagnosis - Function where the ECU in the power window regulator motor detects malfunctions in the power window system and makes a diagnosis.
- The power window switch light blinks to inform the driver of the malfunction.
Fail-safe If the pulse sensor(s) (Hall IC(s)) in the power window regulator motor malfunctions, the power window AUTO UP/DOWN function is disabled.
