Back Door Entry Unlock Function does not Operate [08/2019 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK ENTRY BACK DOOR UNLOCK FUNCTION 
    1. Check that the function operates normally.

      Refer to OPERATION CHECK [08/2019 - ]

  2. CHECK CUSTOMIZE SETTING (Back Door Opening Operation) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Customize Setting / Smart Key.
      SMART KEY

      Tester Display Description Default Setting ECU
      Back Door Opening Operation Function that sets the back door when the user is carrying the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly and presses the back door outside handle. Long 00:Long, 01:Twice, 10:OFF Certification ECU (Smart key ECU assembly)

      Result

      Customize setting is "Long" or "Twice" A
      Customize setting is "OFF" B

    Result: 

    PERFORM CUSTOMIZE SETTING (Proceed to Customize Parameters). Refer to  CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [08/2019 - ]

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (TR/B-DOOR UNLOCK SW) 
    1. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Key / Data List.
    2. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      BODY ELECTRICAL > SMART KEY > DATA LIST

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Normal Condition
      Tr/B-Door Unlock SW Back door outside handle ON or OFF ON: Back door outside handle pressed
      OFF: Back door outside handle not pressed
      • Displays whether the back door outside handle is on or off.
      • Use this Data List item to help determine if there is a switch malfunction when the back door unlock function does not operate.

      OK

      The Techstream display changes correctly in response to the operation of the back door outside handle.

    REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2019 - ]

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE - CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) AND MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the V6 back door outside handle connector.
    2. Disconnect the H198 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the V3 multiplex network door ECU connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      V6-1 - H198-5 (TSW5) Always Below 1 Ω
      V6-2 - V3-24 (HSW-) Always Below 1 Ω
      V6-1 or H198-5 (TSW5) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      V6-2 or V3-24 (HSW-) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  5. INSPECT BACK DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE 
    1. Remove the back door outside handle.

      Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ]

    2. Inspect the back door outside handle.

      Refer to INSPECTION [08/2015 - ]

    Result:

    REPLACE BACK DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ]

  6. CHECK CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) (TERMINAL TSW5) 
    1. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform.

      *a Replacement Component with harness connected
      (Certification ECU (Smart Key ECU Assembly))

    REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [08/2019 - ]

    REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2019 - ] 

  7. CHECK POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM 
    1. When the tail gate switch assembly is operated, check that the back door window open according to the switch operation.

      Refer to OPERATION CHECK [08/2019 - ]

      OK

      Back door window operates normally.

      Result

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2019 - ]

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TAIL GATE CONTROL SWITCH ASSEMBLY - MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) AND MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the V24 tail gate control switch assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the H131 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
    3. Disconnect the V3 multiplex network door ECU connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      V24-3 (SDN) - H131-28 (GOSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      V24-2 (E3) - V3-19 (KEYE) Always Below 1 Ω
      V24-3 (SDN) or H131-28 (GOSW) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      V24-2 (E3) or V3-19 (KEYE) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  9. INSPECT TAIL GATE CONTROL SWITCH ASSEMBLY (UNLOCK SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the tail gate control switch assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [08/2019 - ]

    2. Inspect the tail gate control switch assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [08/2019 - ]

      Result

    Result:

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2019 - ]

    REPLACE TAIL GATE CONTROL SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2019 - ] 

  10. CHECK POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM 
    1. When the door control switch on the multiplex network master switch assembly is operated, check that the doors unlock and lock according to the switch operation.

      Refer to OPERATION CHECK [08/2019 - ]

      OK

      Door locks operate normally.

      Result

    Result:

    REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2019 - ]

    GO TO POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2019 - ]
