Wiper and Washer Switch Circuit [08/2015 - 08/2017]: Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE CONDITION 
    1. Check whether the rear wiper and washer systems operate normally.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Rear wiper and washer systems do not operate. A
      Rear wiper system does not operate. B
      Rear washer system does not operate. C

    Result:

  2. INSPECT FUSE (ECU-IG No. 2) 
    1. Remove the ECU-IG No. 2 fuse from the main body ECU.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      ECU-IG No. 2 fuse Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reinstall the ECU-IG No. 2 fuse.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE FUSE 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the windshield wiper switch assembly.

    2. Inspect the rear wiper switch.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      2 (EW) - 6 (C1R) Rear wiper switch OFF 10 kΩ or higher
      2 (EW) - 7 (+1R)
      6 (C1R) -7 (+1R)
      2 (EW) - 6 (C1R) Rear wiper switch LO Below 1 Ω
      2 (EW) - 7 (+1R) Rear wiper switch HI Below 1 Ω
    4. Inspect the rear washer switch.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      2 (EW) - 7 (+1R) Rear washer switch OFF 10 kΩ or higher
      2 (EW) - 5 (WR)
      5 (WR) - 7 (+1R)
      2 (EW) - 5 (WR) Rear washer switch ON (Rear wiper switch in OFF position) Below 1 Ω
      2 (EW) - 7 (+1R) Rear washer switch ON (Rear wiper switch in ON position) Below 1 Ω
      2 (EW) - 5 (WR)
      5 (WR) - 7 (+1R)
    6. Reinstall the the windshield wiper switch assembly.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2019] )

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the H14 windshield wiper switch assembly connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H14-2 (EW) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the windshield wiper switch assembly connector.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the H3 and H4 main body ECU connector.

    2. Inspect the rear wiper switch.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      H3-2 (RWIN) - Body ground Rear wiper switch OFF 10 kΩ or higher
      H3-9 (RWON) - Body ground
      H3-2 (RWIN) - Body ground Rear wiper switch LO Below 1 Ω
      H3-9 (RWON) - Body ground Rear wiper switch HI Below 1 Ω
      H4-7 (RWSW) - Body ground Rear washer switch ON (Rear wiper switch in ON position) Below 1 Ω
    4. Inspect the rear washer switch.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      H4-7 (RWSW) - Body ground Rear washer switch OFF 10 kΩ or higher
      H4-7 (RWSW) - Body ground Rear washer switch ON (Rear wiper switch in ON position) Below 1 Ω
      Rear washer switch ON (Rear wiper switch in OFF position) Below 1 Ω
    6. Reconnect the main body ECU connector.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - MAIN BODY ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the DA main body ECU connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      DA-1 - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
    3. Reconnect the main body ECU connector.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - IGNITION SWITCH, BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the DD main body ECU connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      DD-43 - Body ground Ignition switch off Below 1 V
      Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      DD-62 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Reconnect the main body ECU connector.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  8. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the windshield wiper switch assembly.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      2 (EW) - 6 (C1R) Rear wiper switch OFF 10 kΩ or higher
      2 (EW) - 7 (+1R)
      6 (C1R) - 7 (+1R)
      2 (EW) - 6 (C1R) Rear wiper switch LO Below 1 Ω
      2 (EW) - 7 (+1R) Rear wiper switch HI Below 1 Ω
    3. Reinstall the windshield wiper switch assembly.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2019] )

    Result: 

    OK

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU, BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the H3 main body ECU connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      H3-2 (RWIN) - Body ground Rear wiper switch OFF 10 kΩ or higher
      H3-9 (RWON) - Body ground
      H3-2 (RWIN) - Body ground Rear wiper switch LO Below 1 Ω
      H3-9 (RWON) - Body ground Rear wiper switch HI Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the main body ECU connector.

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    (Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [08/2015 - 08/2017] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  10. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the windshield wiper switch assembly.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      2 (EW) - 7 (+1R) Rear washer switch OFF 10 kΩ or higher
      2 (EW) - 5 (WR)
      5 (WR) - 7 (+1R)
      2 (EW) - 7 (+1R) Rear washer switch ON (Rear wiper switch in ON position) Below 1 Ω
      2 (EW) - 5 (WR)
      5 (WR) - 7 (+1R)
    3. Reinstall the windshield wiper switch assembly.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2019] )

    Result: 

    OK

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU, BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the H4 main body ECU connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      H4-7 (RWSW) - Body ground Rear washer switch OFF 10 kΩ or higher
      H4-7 (RWSW) - Body ground Rear washer switch ON (Rear wiper switch in ON position) Below 1 Ω
      Rear washer switch ON (Rear wiper switch in OFF position) Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the main body ECU connector.

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    (Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [08/2015 - 08/2017] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
