Wiper and Washer Switch Circuit [08/2017 - 08/2019]: Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE CONDITION 
    1. Check whether the rear wiper and washer systems operate normally.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Rear wiper and washer systems do not operate. A
      Rear wiper system does not operate. B
      Rear washer system does not operate. C

    Result:

  2. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the windshield wiper switch assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2019]

    2. Inspect the windshield wiper switch assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [08/2015 - ]

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2019] )

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the H14 windshield wiper switch assembly connector.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector (to Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H14-2 (EW) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the windshield wiper switch assembly connector.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2017 - 08/2019] 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU [MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU]) 
    1. Disconnect the H131 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
    2. Inspect the rear wiper switch.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      H131-11 (RWIN) - Body ground Rear wiper switch OFF 10 kΩ or higher
      H131-15 (RWON) - Body ground
      H131-11 (RWIN) - Body ground Rear wiper switch LO Below 1 Ω
      H131-15 (RWON) - Body ground Rear wiper switch HI Below 1 Ω
      H131-23 (RWSW) - Body ground Rear washer switch ON (Rear wiper switch in ON position) Below 1 Ω
    4. Inspect the rear washer switch.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      H131-23 (RWSW) - Body ground Rear washer switch OFF 10 kΩ or higher
      H131-23 (RWSW) - Body ground Rear washer switch ON (Rear wiper switch in ON position) Below 1 Ω
      Rear washer switch ON (Rear wiper switch in OFF position) Below 1 Ω
    6. Reconnect the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2017 - 08/2019] 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the 3G, 3J and 3I cowl side junction block LH connectors.

      (to Cowl Side Junction Block LH)

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3G-1 - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
      3J-17 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3I-3 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Reconnect the cowl side junction block LH connectors.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2017 - 08/2019] 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. CHECK COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH 
    1. Remove the cowl side junction block LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [08/2017 - 08/2019]

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Cowl Side Junction Block LH)
      - -
    2. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from the cowl side junction block LH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [08/2017 - 08/2019]

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3J-17 - A-11 (GND1) Always Below 1 Ω
      3G-1 - A-32 (IG) Battery not connected to 3J-17 - A-11(GND1) 10 kΩ or higher
      Battery positive (+) → 3J-17
      Battery negative (-) → A-11 (GND1)
      Below 1 Ω
      3I-3 - 3J-17 or A-11 (GND1) Always Below 1 Ω

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2017 - 08/2019] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2017 - 08/2019] 

  7. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the windshield wiper switch assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2019]

    2. Inspect the windshield wiper switch assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [08/2015 - ]

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2019] )

    Result: 

    OK

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU [MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU] AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.

      (to Main Body ECU [Multiplex Network Body ECU])
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      H131-11 (RWIN) - Body ground Rear wiper switch OFF 10 kΩ or higher
      H131-15 (RWON) - Body ground
      H131-11 (RWIN) - Body ground Rear wiper switch LO Below 1 Ω
      H131-15 (RWON) - Body ground Rear wiper switch HI Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    (Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [08/2017 - 08/2019] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2017 - 08/2019] 

  9. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the windshield wiper switch assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2019]

    2. Inspect the windshield wiper switch assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [08/2015 - ]

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2019] )

    Result: 

    OK

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU [MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU] AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      H131-23 (RWSW) - Body ground Rear washer switch OFF 10 kΩ or higher
      H131-23 (RWSW) - Body ground Rear washer switch ON (Rear wiper switch in ON position) Below 1 Ω
      Rear washer switch ON (Rear wiper switch in OFF position) Below 1 Ω

      (to Main Body ECU [Multiplex Network Body ECU])
    3. Reconnect the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    (Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [08/2017 - 08/2019] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2017 - 08/2019]
